Has anyone ever felt really good about their test and ended up bombing it? I felt like the MCQ was easy and the SIMs were hard but doable. I finished with 15 minutes left on the test after checking all my sims. I finished my MCQs with 2 1/2 hours left for the sims. I finished the SIMS with 55 mins left before rechecking.

    Am I screwed?

Hi DZagT – I took FAR yesterday as well and had a similar experience. My 2nd and 3rd testlet were noticeably harder, but my 1st testlet felt like a joke, it was that easy. I'm interested to see other's responses because the exam is playing with my head now. My goal was to get through the MCQ's in 2 hrs and I did so in 90 minutes. I wound up finishing 55 minutes early and spent 15 minutes checking certain SIMs again. There was only 1 SIM that I did not feel confident about, but staring at it for 45 minutes would not have done anything. I feel very confident about the other SIMS. Good luck! It's going to be a long wait until March 9th.

I took FAR yesterday. It was my first exam and I studied about 200 hours and did around 2500 mcq, but I don't think I passed. I think my nerves and being run down leading up to the exam got the best of me. I haven't had a good night's sleep since my son was born 4 weeks ago and my studying wasn't as efficient since. I didn't feel the testlets got any harder, but there were some long questions with calculations so who knows. The sims weren't as bad as I expected. I think I nailed 2 and got the research one right. Had no idea on one with journal entries and hope that was a pretest. I'm really mad I didn't use the AL for one of them because it would have helped me. Hopefully I got some partial credit at least. I finished with 5 minutes left, but I'm normally a slow test taker. Overall it was a good experience and I'm glad I took it and didn't postpone. If I have to retake it I know which areas I need to work one.

I took it yesterday, and probably bombed. I had an overall average score of 78%, but a trending score of 77.60%.

    1st testlet 20 flagged, 2nd testlet 20 flagged, 3rd testlet 12 flagged.

SIMS – probably rec'd full credit for research…that's it.

I studied 4 hours yesterday in preparation for my retake, again. Ugh. Good luck all.

Does anyone know if the same Multiple Choice and Sims show up on the retake exam???

FAR was difficult. (For someone that has been out of school for a while).

I'm fairly certain I will need to do a retake.

RE2PECT – totally agree with you, it was an experience.

It messes with your head because apparently easy = bad and hard = good with this exam lol

Tiesto – I seriously doubt you'll end up with the same exam lol. The one thing I don't like about this exam is the next time you take it, it could be with completely different topics. I put a lot of extra time into some of the more heavily tested areas and ended up getting only a handful of mcq on them. If i focus on the questions that gave me trouble on this exam they may not even show up on the next one smh. You really do need to have a handle on everything and make sure you do a full comprehensive review before. I had one area I was strong in while studying and didn't review it much at the end and wound up getting a sim on it. I struggled with it because I couldn't remember certain rules and it cost me points that could end up being the difference of me passing or not.

Completely agree RE2PECT (even though Im a die-hard red sox fan). If I fail, Im going to study as if I were taking it for the first time. My test had various question from various different topics. There's no other way around it, you kind of just have to know the stuff.

Thanks All. Sounds like the consensus is that I should not depend on the same questions/sims being on the retake.

When I took FAR in November it was my very first exam to take so I didn't know what to expect, except that I would probably fail because I didn't prepare like I should have. Made a 65. When I retook the test in January I felt like I did way better than the first time (because I actually prepared like I should have) and my score came back as a 65. The exact same dang score. I'd be interested to hear someone say that they actually come out of a test saying “YES! I NAILED IT!”. The CPA exam leaves so much question and second guessing on the tester that you are wondering “did I read the question right?” “Did I think they were asking for this but I answered for that?” It's very frustrating!

    FAR - 65 (11/2015), 65 (01/2016), 3rd and hopefully final attempt May 2016
    BEC - 67 (02/2016), Retake - 4/4/2016
    AUD - July 2016
    REG - October 2016

Ever hear or the concept of self fufilling prophecy..meaning if you go into something thinking it will be hard and you will fail..you likely will?

You should study and prepare so hard that you know the answers like the back of your hand..no excuses not to know journal entrys inside and out..

We used to have a saying in fighting..the harder you prepare the luckier you get.

I took FAR in November because my NTS was running out and I said screw it I have nothing to lose. The test I feel was really easy but I was so under prepared it didn't balance out. ended up with a 72. I just retook FAR over the weekend, WOW what I different test I got. Even the first testlet was very difficult for me with lots of Governmental, Non for profit and IFRS everywhere. Even though I felt much more prepared you will never know what they will test and it seems like they stick with certain categories within each test. So you can do great if you know those topics well … or get hammered.

I was surprised at a couple of MCQ's I received, but I felt like I was tested evenly over several topics. I do have to say I felt as though the test creators were reading my mind for the SIMS. I won't say which topics, but there were two topics throughout my studying that I had trouble with and didn't really grasp. During final review this weekend, I avoided questions on both. I didn't see hardly any MCQ's on them but what happens for my first 2 SIMS? $*#$(*! LOL. I feel like I grabbed half credit on one (thank you AL) and either put zero's or made my best guess for the other one. I don't feel super confident about the exam as a whole, but given that I spent 3 weeks studying I think I have a decent shot at passing.

    @Dave71

If you read what I wrote above you, you would see I wrote something very similar to you. But I think 25% would be an understatement for me. Then I also received about 15% of IFRS related questions. This test was a horror show for me.

Get rogers..hes covers IFRS pretty thrououghly..and the differences..

I really dont see how people think they are hard..biggest difference is fixed assets i think.

Governemntal would be a bitch if you never had a class in it..pretty complicated and back asswards.
