I just took FAR on the 9th and am a little nervous about whether or not I passed. I know worrying will do nothing and I am taking a break because I am kind of burned out and need to “recharge.” I must say that I have never, ever had to study for an examination like FAR – Holy Cow that was A LOT of information to retain!! The cumulative amount of information and the number of random topics is absurd – IMO.

    My Exam Experience:

1st Teslet: Medium difficult. Maybe flagged 5 questions, but I felt like I nailed most.

2nd Tetslet: Slightly harder than First and flagged between 6-7. More computational than the 1st, but nothing too bad.

3rd Teslet: Definitely harder than first and second. Flagged around 9-10. Lengthy paragraph questions rather than having the information in an organized presentation.

Sims: Brutal because they were all on topics that I knew by heart, but with a “twist” and some were very lengthy. I did okay, but did not nail them like the MCQ. Didn’t do well with the research either.

Overall, I feel I answered at least 70% or more of the MCQ’s correctly. But, the Sims I will be lucky to have answered 50% correctly – probably between 40-50%. However, I gave the Sims everything I had and tried to solve them to the best of my capabilities and did not leave anything blank.

Do you guys think I passed? I’m thinking I will be in the 73-85 range, but this is my first exam so I have no clue. Only the CPA Gods truly know. Thanks and goodluck!

This actually sounds VERY similar to my exam experience and I passed with a 78. I don't remember how many questions I flagged, but I think it was about 8 or 9 per testlet (on avg). The first testlet was straightforward, the second was really hard the first few questions but then got somewhat easier, and the third was definitely hard. The sims were ALL on topics I had been super comfortable with, but like you said, had a twist which made me insecure. I also definitely got the research question wrong because I didn't have the time to search properly (submitted with 20 seconds left). I know a 78 isn't a crazy good score, but you're probably doubting yourself more than you need to! Good luck 🙂

Thanks for your feedback. If I get a 75 I will be more than happy. I DO NOT want to restudy FAR! That exam was information overload to the MAX! I sure hope that REG, AUD, and BEC are not as time consuming as FAR. Goodluck with the rest of your examinations!
