To those who received low scores

    Hi All,

I wanted to give a few words of encouragement to those who received low scores this morning. I took FAR in September and received a 58. Today, I woke up to an 86, which is a 28 score jump in two months.

    Two tips from my experience:
    1. Don’t base your retake on your last experience. I thought that no matter how much I study, I’ll only improve 10-15 points max, which is still a fail. This exam is a new exam and does not branch off your old exam in any way. Think of it as a clean slate, a new opportunity, and aim high.
    2. For those who did not score near 70, starting over from the beginning is really the best option. Think of it as someone who is looking at CPA material for the first time but is just more familiar with the subject matter. It was a tedious process but when I went through the material again (even the ones I thought I mastered), there was so much detail that I missed out on. I asked myself how I took the exam without knowing all this.

I know it isn’t much but I thought it could maybe inspire a few of you to not give up!!! I am now done with the exam but will hopefully visit the forum every now and then to help as much as I can 🙂 Good luck to you all & Happy Holidays!!

    Hey!

I needed this. I took REG a 2nd time and AUD the 1st and got a 53 and 57 respectively. I feel (I can't say felt yet, it's still sinking in) like a failure. It's hard to get up and move on with bad scores. I think it's like you said. Take a deep breathe, and just start over. It sucks- believe me, me and my tears have been going at it since 5am when I woke up. But the way I always see it- your story always sounds better if it's a “come-back” one 🙂

Don't give up guys. We got this.

I came on this site this morning needing your exact words. Literally, exact. Thank you. It gives me hope.

Its FAR. I'm dreading the thought of starting from the beginning. I lose AUD in March. I did Roger Review, Ninja Book, Ninja Notes, MCQ section by section and then going back to do any sections that I was weaker in (a lot lol). I know I bombed SIMS this time around, I have no idea how to pick myself up right now.

    AUD - 8/12/16
    REG - 10/7/16
    BEC - 11/18/16
    FAR - TBD

Thank you for this. I just got my REG score back…. a 53. I even work as a tax preparer. The sad thing is I know I did really well on the first MCQ testlet because the second one was much, much more difficult. I wish they wouldn't do things like that because it doesn't really work out in our favor very much. I remember the 1st MCQ in my second testlet was EXTREMELY difficult and time consuming. I spent like 5 or more minutes on it just because of the length of the question, it was more like a TBS than anything. To further this all I only received a 55 in FAR and a 63 in AUD. Every time I check these score I feel so stupid because I study so hard and they are so low. I studied for so long for FAR, like 3-4 months and barely made it through the material and had no time to review. But REG, this one hurts the most. I work in taxes, I do well at my job, and I am outstanding with all the law stuff. I feel like I'm never going to pass this stuff.

Yep, I need this motivation as well. Woke up to a 50 on FAR this morning which is beyond demoralizing. The thing that drives me nuts about it is that I felt pretty good after taking the exam and didn't struggle with anything they threw at me. On the flip side, I struggled big time with my last BEC attempt, a 50 would have been totally reasonable but I got a 72 so who knows. I'm going for the immediate retake so time to brush myself off and get back on the horse…
