Money is not an incentive for me. There’s no pressure from my company to take this exam. There’s no bonus or promotion at the end of this road.
I’m doing this mainly for me because a) I believe it would help me in the long run (better job opportunities, more chance for promotions) and b) I love to learn. I’m understanding and retaining more with my current job as a staff accountant (journal entries, accounts analysis, etc.) from studying for this exam.
But, on the other hand, there is the pressure from *myself* (“Why am I doing this?”). There are the strange looks I get from non-CPAs (“Why are you doing this?”).
There are days when I’m afraid to talk about the exam because I dread *that* suggestion.
You know the suggestion.
“Maybe you should quit.”
I hate that suggestion. I get angry at that suggestion even when said with best intentions. And then it becomes harder because I doubt myself and my intentions.
What you do when you get at that low point? How do you build confidence and motivation while taking the exam?
