If I am finishing up the classes I need to sit for the CPA exam, and I will complete them in December 2016, do I have to wait until the grades are posted before I can submit the application of intent and sit for the exams. I read somewhere else that you can begin taking the exam before you complete your final semester, but the website isn’t very clear.

You can send in your application of intent before you complete classes. You don't have to wait to send it in.

If I send it in now, will I need to send it in again when I complete the coursework?

No need to do another application of intent again, you just have to send your transcript to the Texas Board so they can approve you to take the exam once your final grades come in.

“I read somewhere else that you can begin taking the exam before you complete your final semester, but the website isn't very clear.”

Yes, you can if you have a Bachelor's degree and in your last semester.

If you are doing a concurrent BBA/Macc program, then you can ask for a letter from your department chair that says that you are a student in good standing, in your last semester, and that he/she recommends that you be able to take the exam. Something like that. I knew some people who did that.

I'll try and find an old email that was forwarded to me that had a response from the board.

    Found it.

    Original Email:

    “stuff stuff…….stuff…stuff

Although the state board requires a degree, I feel the amount of education obtained is the equivalent of a Bachelor's degree. Is there any way possible for me to become eligible to sit for the CPA exam without a degree?

    Sincerely,

    Mayo's Buddy”

    Response:

“The board will only allow 5th year students to sit for the CPA exam in there final semester.”

Lol, they could not even spell their response correctly. *Their*.
