Testlet Difficulty

I understand that the MCQ testlets increase in difficulty if you did well on the previous one. My question is, if you did well on the first testlet are all the questions in the second testlet supposed to be difficult or most of them?

I took REG last week and it seemed like most of my 2nd testlet was difficult with maybe 3 or 4 short questions that were easy mixed in.

    FAR: 66, 75
    AUD: 67, 69, 70, 74, 74
    REG: 71, 79
    BEC: 73

Two things to keep in mind: difficultly is not measured by the “wordiness” of the question or answers. It is measured by how well other people did on this question when it was a pre-test MCQ. So, a short question might still be a difficult one (see sample questions from AICPA in the difficult section – some of them are pretty short). Second, the difficulty of the testlet is determined by the cumulative difficulty of all questions in it. In other words, some questions will be difficult, but you're expected to get a few that are easy as well.

    AUD - passed
    REG - passed
    BEC - passed
    FAR - passed

From my previous exams, there are definitely easier questions sprinkled into hard testlets. Always beautiful to see them!

    BEC - 78 (August 2015)
    FAR - 80 (November 2015)
AUD - 73, 67. (Ok I gotta confess I was even more lazy this time around)
    REG - August 27th, 2016

That's reassuring to read because I definitely noticed a few ‘easier' questions sprinkled into my 3rd testlet for FAR on Monday. My first testlet was a joke; my 2nd testlet felt like a minefield, but my 3rd testlet had a few easier questions. I was starting to think that meant I bombed the 2nd testlet. I hate how these exams mess with your head, and I'm not even someone who gets test anxiety. :/

    BEC - 88 8/29/15
    REG - 82 11/14/15
    AUD - 83 1/8/16
    FAR - 80 2/29/16

I took it on Monday and I felt exactly the same as you. 1st is a joke, 2nd is brutal, 3rd is obviously easier than the 2nd. Not sure anyone experienced this situation and still managed a pass =[

    FAR 95

I'd say as long as you for sure get 1 difficult testlet you have a shot. Pretty sure all my BEC testlets were the same easy difficulty and I passed. (the SIMS for BEC are practically free points so I probably passed due to them)

    BEC - 78 (August 2015)
    FAR - 80 (November 2015)
AUD - 73, 67. (Ok I gotta confess I was even more lazy this time around)

@TheHoundThatRides, I felt the same, first testlet took me ten mins, but second one took me 30 mins and third one took me longer

    Far 10/26/2015, 64, 1/4/2016, 82
    Reg 7/10/2015, 60, 2/27/2016, 86
Aud, 5/9/2016, 74 (ouch), 7/26/2016, I cannot wait to take this test again
    Bec, 6/10/2016, 70,9/8 retake

If you have Becker and go to “newly released questions,” it will show the examples of “moderate” and “difficult” questions. I think that if you're getting alot of questions that are similar to the difficult examples, you probably have a difficult testlet on your hands.

B=84 This exam was such a b**** that I thought I failed-don't know how these things work
A=76 Slacker I am, I'll happily take it
    R=81 I LOVE taxes
F=80 I don't wanna get banned for an expletive I'm thinking with "yea" proceeding it

I feel slightly better about the REG exam I just took because I was just under the impression that a short question that seemed easy to me meant “welp i'm screwed.”

    I need a drink.

@ jdn9201, you summed it up perfectly! could not have said it better myself. I took bec on the 29th, my first testlet felt like a freebie, second testlet felt just below like it was just getting to medium but their was a question here and their that i felt could have definitely been a pretest question, and then the third felt also just about a medium but easily doable. As for the three writing, they were all straight forward, i knew all the topics, and i used all the correct grammar.

Now i walked out of their pretty confident and happy with my grade. But now im starting to take into consideration that i never reached hard difficulty. The consensus seem to be that everyone seemed to have gotten similar tests, but still cant shake that feeling of O NO.

    FAR-76 First attempt.
    AUD-79 First attempt.
    REG-79 First attempt.
    BEC-79 First attempt.

    Done!

it's hard to gauge difficulty, difficult for one person might be easy for the other. however, not to say it couldn't be obvious either. also, i think as long as you do well on SIMs, no matter how many difficult testlets you had, you can pass. i'm probably the minority that passed audit w weaker MCQ (no idea if i had 1 or 2 difficult testlets) and stronger SIMs.

    BEC - 75 (3x)
    AUD - 78 (3x)
    REG - 67, 66, Aug 1
    FAR - 54, Sept 8

I agree with Claudia – perception varies from person to person, and is also dependent on how well you studied the material. BEC and REG both felt like jokes to me, but that's because I felt confident about the material (except for BLAW, which I skipped). AUD played with my head because my testlets never really got harder, just the wording was tricky throughout. Claudia, I may be with you on AUD because I felt more confident about my performance on the SIMS than the MCQ's. My main concern is I just hope I didn't go through the test too fast. I'm a fast test taker and I have to tell myself to read each question twice before answering – even the easy ones. Even though my FAR questions got harder, I managed to plow through all of the MCQ's in about 90 minutes. I hesitate to change answers because I have a bad habit of 2nd guessing myself out of right answers.

    BEC - 88 8/29/15
    REG - 82 11/14/15
    AUD - 83 1/8/16
    FAR - 80 2/29/16
