So.. some other associates/senior associates took me to lunch when I first started and told me if you work 10 billable hours a day during tax busy season, the parking is reimbursable. Anyone else have something like this?

I don’t know if I believe them and I am trying to fill out my expense report… I don’t want to look like a fool asking a manager

Work at PwC 100% true, and you get dinner expensed if you eat it at the office.

I don't see how you would deduct this on your tax return if that's what you're referring to.

As for expense (being reimbursed by your employer) I believe it is up to them (policies and procedures).

I got 99 problems but the CPA ain't one.

Definitely meant reimbursed through the company, not on my tax return…

Thanks, TaxGod! They have online ordering for dinner and Saturday lunches where they have 2 providers. I'm still trying to figure that stuff out… it is the same food every week. Luckily, I'd rather come in early and leave by 6 so I can still have dinner with my boyfriend.

I would suggest double checking this. I've never heard of such a thing. I am sure it's a PWC policy that lets taxgod do this.

Picture yourself as a business owner and your employee's just buying food b/c they are there for long hours and EXPECTING you, the owner, to reimburse them.

i wish Jeff would enable emoticons for this website. My question wasn't meant to be, do you think is this is right, it was more of a “what happens at your firm”

EuroAddict, many places, both public accounting firms, and corporate, will order in dinner and/or lunch during busy season/year end. They do this because you're working 10-12 hour days to meet filing deadlines, they would rather pay the $12 dollars for lunch rather than you taking an hour.

I know how it works, your Q wasn't super clear at all lol

I had one job that provide dinner Mon – Fri and lunch on Sat during busy season.

I wasn't saying its universal, I just answered the question that yes larger firms will let you expense parking if working over 10 hours, and i know all big 4 has this policy.
