So I’m a little (or a lot) anxious for my exam in the morning. I’ve taken Becker’s practice exams and scored a 66 on the first and a 70 on the second. Done over 3,000 MCQs between Becker and Ninja and all the SIMs in Becker. I told myself I would only read my book and work on trouble areas today, but I’m having a hard time calming myself down to focus. Does anyone have any tips for the day before an exam?

Nerves are normal, it means you are human. My best advice is to not do anything too heavy today. It's too late in my opinion to do any more MCQ or SIMS. If you have notes, I would limit yourself to reviewing those and maybe skimming through any section of the book you don't feel as comfortable with. It sounds like that was your plan to begin with, I would stick to it.

The key the day before is to not Psych yourself out. At the end of the day, it is just another test. Trust that you have prepared as best as possible, and go in with the attitude that you will crush it! And try and get some sleep!

    Good luck!

I agree with tygolfer, just take it easy, review your flashcards/notes… What you know you already know! Good luck!

Based on your Becker exam scores alone, you're certainly on the right track. My Becker exam scores were 63% (#1) and 53% (#2), and I made a 77 on the actual exam.
The best advice I can give is that you do minimal studying – maybe review notes from trouble areas, and work a few Becker progress tests (of 30 or 40 each). Don't know if they provide that in the new format, but I liked doing these progress tests, because they pulled random MCQs from any chapter, and it really tested my comfort with the material and helped me build confidence.

Lastly, I suggest you not study beyond 7:00pm. Close the books. Put on a movie. Eat a good meal. You've done all the work you can. Rest your brain and get it ready to dominate tomorrow! You've got this!

I took REG yesterday. I'm using only Gleim and when I took the practice test a week before my exam I got a 65. I was totally bummed because I felt like I had studied so hard fand was expecting at least a 72-75 on the practice exam. I was also psyched out because I haven't taken any sections since the changes in April so I had no idea what to expect. I could tell that since Gleim did their big update for the exam changes that the questions were definitely more challenging, which made me worried what the actual exam was like.

For the past week, I worked REALLY hard reviewing and busting out MCQs like crazy (just like it sounds you have). I was bound and determined to do everything I could to pass this section on my first try.

I can't speak at all for Becker, but what I can say is I think Gleim totally overcompensated in making their MCQs harder to match the new exam format because I was pleasantly surprised by the level of difficulty of the MCQs on the actual test. They definitely covered A LOT of ground, but I would say the questions were VERY straightforward for the most part. The sims were very in-depth and long, but nothing too incredibly tricky on them either.

All this to say, RELAX!! You've prepared well and you're at the finish line for this section. Take it easy today and go in there tomorrow and just do your best. That's all you can do at this point!

We're in almost the exact same boat; I got a 62% and a 74% on the Becker practice exams and I also take my exam tomorrow.

I spent this morning reviewing some more difficult areas like AMT, casualty losses (that couldn't stick with me for some reason), and like-kind exchanges. A few other things. I re-read those sections, did a few MCQ's for those areas.

But, I agree, I'm also having a hard time focusing today. I keep getting distracted by other things. And when I was reviewing last night, doing MCQ's I know I'd gotten right in the past, I was suddenly messing them up.

One of the best things you can do is take plenty of time off before you get into the exam. Mine's at 12:30 tomorrow and I don't plan on doing any studying tomorrow; maybe reviewing a couple formulas or notes that I just really struggled with. Nothing hardcore.

Take a deep breath, get a good night's sleep, eat well ahead of the test and just have faith that you've done the best that you can to prepare. And whatever the outcome, just by what you've prepped so far and by taking the exam, you're better off than where you were (that's what I keep telling myself).

Thank all of you for your replies! I ended up reading my notes by the pool to relax today. About to eat a good dinner and watch some Netflix. Love this forum for all the uplifting advice and encouragement.

    – Good luck to you tomorrow! Let's hope that we can have easy recollection of everything we've studied! I certainly agree that we are much better off now.

@ Allie : Completely agree with you. I am also using gleim and I scored 63 on the Exam rehearsal. Was really disappointed with the score. Just gave my exam this 8th and MCQ's seemed pretty straightforward. Too much of detail in Gleim I believe.

I too struggled a lot with the SIMS. Found them to be time taking. The SIMS in Gleim very pretty easy.

Did you struggle with SIMS too? What do you think your overall performance was?
