I am finishing my last semester of college. I began studying for the cpa about a month ago and every few weeks I feel like a just need a night off from studying just to relax. Does anyone else feel like it is necessary that they take a day off from studying once in a while?

Definitely… Test is in less than 12 days. Last week I took one weeknight off. It felt great and it was a Monday since I studied all weekend. I felt rejuvenated and studied ALL the rest of the week. I think it's good to have one day off or a light day of studying.

I finish Gleim, take a day off, do the Ninja MCQ, take a day off, do the MCQ I got wrong, take a day off. It's also important to take a day off.

That's the bad part. In college you had weeks off built in even if you went to summer school or wintersession. For the exams it's a straight grind. So you need to build in days off on your own.

I typically take friday night off. After a week of work i am tired and just relax before hitting it full tilt through the weekend. The last two weeks are final review and i review on friday nights rather than tackle anything challenging. It is important to pace yourself and not be worn out for the actual exam. So friday nights are not party nights but they do allow for a restful break going into the weekends.

I do the same thing as Moniker. Friday nights I take off, but might sneak in some mcq's or ninja notes at work if I'm not busy.

@Track55: How did you go from a 74 to 99 in AUD?! That's really impressive and would like to know what you did when studying for your retake. Same goes for REG as well.

Definitely, I take every Sunday off and i do nothing but relaxing and reading ( non CPA books).
It gives me the drive to want to go back to studying when Monday comes – go figure it out lol
I also take 2 weeks off after an exam. I always schedule my exams so that I have 2 weeks before the results so I can get my life back for a short period of time before going all in again.

    Hope that helps.

I always took Fridays off just to relax a little and to prevent myself from going insane. Whiskey was my best friend on Friday night. Also after each test, I took maybe a week off before starting the next section.

Especially if you have the suggested 6-8 weeks of study time, there is no reason why you can't squeeze in 25 hours a week over 6 days. Give yourself one day off per week people, it's worth it.
