Suggestions for FAR Studying?

    Hello all,

I am currently set up to take FAR on 4/30. Unfortunately I’ve been out of school for quite some time (3 years) so my studying patterns have been rather poor so far. I’ve done maybe 25 hours of studying so far, including doing quite a bit of MCQ’s and reading about 250 pages of the FAR book.

My current plan is to commit ~ 120 hours of the next few weeks, with a modified ELL. I work full time 45+ hours per week.

My plan of attack is to:

    1. Review write Jeff’s FAR notes –

    – for anything that is unfamiliar, review it in Jeff’s FAR book or Wiley book and update my copy of the notes.

    2. Do MCQs and the Sims

    – update copy of notes with any new questions.

    3. Rewrite notes at some point in time

    4. While doing all of this, listen to Jeff’s Audio while on my way to work (quick commute though) and at the gym.

    5. Ninja blitz the week before the exam.

    6. Not read the book otherwise – I can’t focus on it, prefer more interactive learning.

Any other suggestions to pass by studying in the next six weeks? I procrastinated too much but I also really want to pass.

Everyone studies differently, but doing MCQ over and over and over again was the most effective way to help me learn. I went over every multiple choice question at least 2 times. If I got it wrong I went over it 3 or 4. I spent a lot of time understanding why I got the question wrong as well.

And don't make the mistake of thinking time = learning. Studying 150 hours won't help unless you are understanding the concepts and committing them to memory.

MCQs and journal entries over and over and over. I honestly wouldn't spend too much time practicing Sims. If you are familiar with the format of the questions and how to search the authoritative literature, then you have pretty much gotten all you're going to get from Sim practice. I never practiced any for FAR and did very well on the Sims on exam day, due almost entirely to the time I spent writing out journal entries while solving MCQs..
