Stupid Prometric Incident

I tested yesterday. I was halfway through the test (during my scheduled break), and I was at my locker eating a snack. I stupidly hit the home button on my phone to check the time and see how much of my break I had left. Apparently the prometric employee saw me because she came over and said I could not do that and she would have to file a report. I apologized and she said it was fine but not to do that anymore. I went back in and finished my test and nothing else was said. Does anyone know what it means if she’s filing a report?

i think it means if you score a 99 they might raise some eyebrows about how that might have come about. otherwise i wouldnt be too terribly concerned with it. I cant speak from personal experience since i have not had anything like that happen but i would imagine they would have stopped you from resuming the test if they were going to disallow your score on any grounds of cheating.

Tough to say, I'd suggest searching AICPA or NASBA for information.
Theoretically you can't go back and change any responses or answers, but they might still hold it against you.

Thanks. I'm hoping it doesn't become an issue. I understand they have policies but I didn't even pick up the phone much less send a text, google something, etc. Even if I had I wouldn't have been able to change anything on my completed testlets so it's no different than looking at your phone while you're waiting in the lobby before your test starts.

You mean you were calm enough to eat a snack during break? Bless you. To answer your question: This means the attendant must report that you were on your phone during break which is a no no. However, since they let you finish the test I wouldn't worry about it. Let's hope you passed. 🙂

    It begins with a 75

In before they give OP the dreaded 74.

Doesn't matter if you did or did not. Prometric policy to report the incident. I'm sure they said something about what not do to when you were signing out. My Prometric always makes it clear.

I just remembered writing this post and thought I should update you guys. I passed with an 80! It was my last section so I'm done. 🙂

So if anyone else gets told that Prometric is filing a report on you, don't freak out!

    Nice!!!
Thanks for the follow up. Good to know.

I don't bring anything inside the test center except my ID, NTS and car key.
My local prometric has you leave snacks on a small table in the lobby, so you don't have to waste time accessing your locker.

@cpacandidate-71 I (unknowingly) broke the rule of not going outside during a break. I stepped outside for some fresh air. When I came back in, the prometric lady said “you shouldn't have done that; you weren't allowed. I'm going to have to do a write-up.” And I think she did. Fortunately, however, another employee was outside on the phone and saw me come out. She “testified” that I didn't make a phone call or go to my car to look at study materials, etc. And I didn't; I literally was standing just outside the door.

Even after I received my passing score (77 (AUD)), I was still worried it wouldn't “count,” due to the write-up. AUD was my first section to pass of the 4, and – to be honest – I didn't feel “out of the woods” about that write-up until I had my CPA license in hand. Haha!

In your case, I think you'll be OK, so long as they didn't amplify the occurrence. Sounds like you didn't text/call anyone or do any research on their phone, and they probably know that (seeing how quickly you glanced at your phone).

Good luck! I think you're good, though.

Guys I don't even blink my eyes during the 4 hrs of exam time as I don't want Prometric to think I am referring to my notes stashed behind my eyelids.
