Stuffing As Many Tests as possible in Q1 2017?

Is anyone stuffing as many tests as they can in Q1 2017?

I have FAR and REG left. I was debating on taking either FAR or REG in Q1 2017 and the other when it’s the New version or taking BOTH FAR and REG in Q1 2017, but risking failing both?

    HELP!!

I am taking both AUD and FAR in Q1. I feel your fear of failing one or both and then having to retake on the new exam. I guess for me it is worth the risk and I am going to try to study my butt off to make sure I pass! I will be sitting for AUD on 1/20 and just paid for FAR and hope to take that on the last day available – 3/10. Good luck!!!

I am considering it.. Earlier today I was looking for threads related to this very subject. I am taking AUD on 1/13, and I would love to take REG and FAR in Q1 as to avoid the 10 week score release for Q2. I read on a website that the expected score release for Q2 is August 16th, no matter what day in Q2 you schedule your exam. I don't know if it is worth the pain to try to study for what I believe will be the two hardest exams in 4 weeks a piece OR take my time to study for REG in Q1, hopefully pass and THEN allow almost three months of study time for FAR and hopefully get my passing score in August. As much as I want this pain to be over, I feel like the latter is the best option.

I really think people are getting panicked about the changes…

I'd rather take a different test, with adequate prep time, than a test I know is a stone breaker without adequate test time.

Take a breath everyone…the exams have changed before.

I for one am not worried about the test changes, I actually think I will prefer the new testing format. My issues are with the timing of the score releases and making sure I have adequate time to pass all four parts before my 18 months is up.

I don't really mind the changes. I just mind waiting 10 weeks for Q2 results and 10 days after the LAST DAY of Q3 and Q4. It just prolongs the whole process unnecessarily.

By stuffing the tests into Q1 2017, I can avoid all that waiting time (assuming I pass). But if I don't pass one or both I would be waiting anyway.

Guess the best choice is to adequately prepare for each test, especially since busy season is right around the corner for me.

That 10+ week wait (depending on when you take your test in April or May) is going to be a nightmare, but I guess it's better to be done with the CPA by the end of the nightmare rather than prolonging the whole process even more by rushing to take everything in Q1.

    I hate the CPA!

Apologies…that's a 100% valid thing, especially if you have scores potentially expiring. I would NOT want to wait months for a score result.

This only works if you know you'd have a fighting chance on exam day. Ask yourself if you could really prepare adequately enough to pass. If not, save your money and focus on your current exam. I took one exam per quarter and only focused on the task at hand.

I scheduled my REG retake for 1/18 and then I’m going to try and do AUD as well, on 3/10. I’ve come to terms that I’m going to have to take FAR in April/May timeframe and just wait for the score until August.

I took two a quarter, but I worked my arse off doing it.

Yeah, I am starting to come to terms with having to wait the 10 weeks. Which really sucks because I need to pass by 8/30 in order to be promoted. But with more time to prepare, maybe I will be pleasantly surprised in August.

    Ridiculous.

I've watched many videos about the New CPA in the past, but somehow never realized there was a 10 week wait no matter when you take the test in Q2 and a 10 day wait after the END of both Q1 and Q2, rather than every 2-4 weeks during a quarter.

I wish I knew this earlier because I really do not mind the changes, I just mind the waiting !!!

I've said this before, but I think the changes look, conceptually, great. They're moving some emphasis away from memorization and valuing applied knowledge more. Given my druthers, I'd take the revised test.

Obviously there's going to be some adjustment as the prep services adapt to the new world.

@OP I will be retaking FAR on 2/6/17 and then taking REG on 3/10/17. I have already taken FAR so I feel better about taking two in one quarter with one of them being a retake. I am also in the camp that doesn't want to wait 10 weeks for a score since my first test would be expiring in August.

@cwlanders Hmm, that makes sense. Both my FAR and REG are retakes as well, but it has been over a year since I studied each, though I am sure I would be familiar with many topics, just not proficient in them.

That plus January will be really busy for me (including weekends!) but it should slow down slight in February and a lot in March.

I guess I will just have to bear the 10 week wait….

Maybe I will put myself in a coma from May until August so that the time flies by =]

Go about taking your exams the exact same way you would if no changes were happening. The exams will slightly change, and the pass rates will remain at 40-something percent every quarter. So what does that mean for you? Not a damn thing, because it means it will be just as difficult to pass as it has been all this time. So a year from now when you see that the pass rates are the same and you may or may not be in that pool of people depending on how well you studied and performed (NOT because the exams got “harder”), you can remember you saw it here first from CPA2BEE 😉
