So I’m finishing my Masters in June and have already started studying for FAR, I plan on taking it in April. I want to start REG ASAP to probably take it in early July. I won’t start work till October, so I have all summer, but I want to pass rather quickly. How long do you think each section takes to study?

A friend of mine completed all four sections in 3 months, 1 month being a no-testing month. Is it possible for me to be done by mid August?

If you're not working at the moment, 2 testing windows is more than enough to knock out all four sections.

I passed all 4 in 2 windows while working full time. I took 7ish weeks per section, other than bec. I only took 5 weeks for bec so I could give myself more time for REG

Yes, I think you can be done by the end of August especially while not working. The study time will vary depending on the person and the subject. Do you remember micro/macro economics and do you recall doing well in those courses in undergrad? The reason why I ask is if you remember the related topics, I think you should save BEC for last. I knocked out BEC in 4 weeks but could have done it in 2 or 3 weeks had I been more consistent in studying from the start. You also may be able to knock out AUD quickly, depending on how well you remember your AUD classes too. AUD is basically all concepts with no computations.

@wombataholic……what was your window schedule. I am thinking of trying to take two in one window. I am feeling anxious, and I want to go on and get this over with. I looked at the exam scheduler for cpaexcel and it says I can take reg 2/29 and be ready for far 4/1. I am currently studying for Reg to take it 2/29, I am still waiting for my nts though ( something went wrong with my bank card :- /) But for curiosity, what was your test window schedule.

I assume by testing window, you mean with study schedule included? Here is mine. I didn't plan it this way, but just fell into it as I got into a good study routine.

BEC – Q3 window
Start studying – 8/1/15
Took exam – 8/29/15

REG- Q4 window
Start studying – 9/22/15
Took exam – 11/14/15

AUD – Q1 16 window
Start studying – 12/4/15
Took exam – 1/8/16

FAR – Q1 16 window
Start studying – 2/7/16
Take exam – 2/29/16
Possible retake – April 2016

I've been giving myself 2-2.5 months for each exam and felt comfortable for the 2 I have taken so far. If you're capable of doing all 4 exams in one window I'd say you're selling yourself short by becoming a CPA and should aim higher. That is pretty rare study ability.
