I am graduating college next month and I begin my full position at a public accounting firm in October. Should I update my linked in and put that I am expected to begin at XYZ company in October?

Also, Should I add my future co-workers on linkedin now or should I wait until I begin working in October? I was thinking about adding the recruiters I spoke with and the managers I interviewed with.

I am in the same boat as you…starting at one of the big 4. Was supposed to be June, now between July and October. I would update your LinkedIn profile on your first day of the job. Unless you feel the need to contact someone for something important (peers), I would hold off until you actually start working.

Unless you are being bombarded with job offers, and want them to stop.. I would hold off on updating LinkedIn or adding any future Co-Workers. You may be looked at as odd, and a lurker on your first day.

The recruiters/managers wont really care if u add them or not tbh. In person connections and conversations are much more effective IMO. I suggest you hold off, maybe add ur position when u start, and once you make those connections with your co-workers while working, then add them. Get them sea legs first, laddie!

Advice is 2 years old but still spot on in my opinion

I'm an incoming associate as well. I'm not on LinkedIn all the time, so last time I was on I chose to update mine to “incoming associate.” A lot of my peers do the same. I've reached out to prior team members, but I worked with them as an intern, and asked to start back with that client. Largely, I think it depends if you've met them before/

I agree with cj. Also, I have only added people after actually meeting them. I have had opportunities to meet some of my peers and I ask them if it is ok to connect with them on LI.
