    Good morning:

I am a full time New York licensed attorney taking accounting classes part time with the goal of sitting for the cpa exams in the near future.

If I wait until I have satisfied the New York requirements before sitting for the exam, I may have to wait until late December to apply and hopefully sit for the exam in January. Alternatively, if I sit for the Delaware cpa exam, I could sign up and get started today.

This plan where I sit for Delaware right now assumes that the test scores would easily transfer to New York State upon filling out the proper forms. Can anyone provide me any advice or suggestions regarding this plan, namely whether it is easy or difficult to transfer scores across jurisdictions. It should be simple given that you just fill out a form, but I want to confirm. Thank you.

What is the difference in requirements to sit between the two states? Requirements to be licensed are not the same as requirements to sit (just an fyi). I think when I sat for NY it was 120 credits, with a class in Audit, Cost, Fin. Acct and Tax and believe it's still the case. I think DE is 120 credits, 24 in acct and at least in each of the same listed for NY. I'd just sit in NY if that's the case and then fill fulfill the 150 needed for licensure while studying for the exam.. which will be a pain in the A given that you are a full time attorney. But a bunch of us have done it, so IT CAN BE DONE!

Contact your Delaware Coordinator at cpaes-de@nasba.org or the New York coordinator at cpaes-ny@nasba.org for more information on your current education and the ability to start testing immediately. Transferring scores is an easy task through https://nasbastore.org//
