I am taking REG in 2 days and I have been uneasy about the SIMs. First off, I am not a tax person. I have studied extensively for this test and hope to pass this last part before the new exam goes into effect. I have drilled MCs like crazy, but I am a bit worried about the SIMs. I’ve saved them for last, and I have been working through them in these final few days. I understand that they are all tax related (except for research).

Has anyone felt that they are weak in tax, but yet were able to pass REG (in particular the SIMS)? I am worried because I can get 3/4 of the practice SIMS in tax right, but I am hearing that the actual SIMS are nothing like the practice.

Get used to looking up items in the AL. I have practically zero tax experience and did OK by using the references.

I second that. I haven't passed REG yet, but got comparable scores on my SIMs both times and I know it's only because I used the AL to search for the topics. I left myself 1.5 hours for the SIMs and answered them all without using the AL first, and then went back through them with my remaining 25-30 minutes and completely changed my answers on one of them based on my AL research.
