Signing former employer on experience (CA)

    Hi everyone,
I left my last job about six months ago (where I worked as a staff accountant in a small CPA firm for two and a half years) in order to pass the exams, (done with BEC and REG) and I was wondering if I should ask my former employer to sign my experience now or wait until I’m done with the whole process? From what I understand he will need to send it directly to the board, so it will just sit there for a while, is that OK? I’m in CA if it matters.
    Thanks

I have not experienced this situation but myself and my friend and colleagues who took these examinations only sent in the experience forms after passing the exam. There's no need to send it in now if you haven't even passed the exams yet. Do you have a feeling your old firm might go out of business or something? I know my question is a stretch but what's the rush?

I just think that now would be a good time to ask as it's off-season and he will have time to do it, also, I'm curious to know if I have the 500 attest hours…

I don't have experience regarding the same, but you can always drop a mail to CBA asking the same.

I asked them the following question after passing exams but before sending in an application for licensure, and this is what they said:

My question: 1) I have taken up a few courses to complete the 150 credit hour requirement for licensing. I wanted to know if the university sends in the transcripts before I send in my application for licensure to CBA, will that be documented in my file? If yes, how would it be identified to be my transcripts, as the University won't be sending my Unique identifier number with the CBA.

CBA Answer: Transcripts received without an active application on file are kept alphabetically and will be checked for when it comes time to process an application.

So I suppose they would still file your experience verification form. And would take that up once you apply for license.

You can email and ask them any specific questions that you have at licensinginfo@cba.ca.gov . They are very good at replying to emails.

    Hope this helps.

PS: My employer also sent in my experience verification form in September last year and I have just applied for licensing in April 2019.
