My FAR test will be on 02/29 but I don’t think I am ready. I am doing mcq’s but there are some topics that I am just guessing the answers without really understanding the concept. My AUD credit will expire 07/02 so I am really worried about passing FAR and BEC in Q2. I took BEC last 01/02 and I failed with 66. Do you have any suggestions? It will be greatly appreciated.

AUD Passed 78 (4x) Thank you Lord.
REG Passed 81 (2x) Thank you St Joseph of Cupertino
FAR Passed 77 (3x) Thank you St Joseph of Cupertino. Thank you Lord.
    BEC TBD

In terms of preparation, I was less than ideal heading into FAR but I still managed a pass. You're never gonna be ready for it. But then again, pushing it back is definitely necessary sometimes.

What exactly are you weak in still? I'd be worried if you were clueless in key concepts like bonds, leases, the framework, fixed assets…..that sorta deal. You can get away with going light on some of the more “advanced accounting” subjects. At least I feel so.

    BEC - 78 (August 2015)
    FAR - 80 (November 2015)
AUD - 73, 67. (Ok I gotta confess I was even more lazy this time around)
    REG - August 27th, 2016

How much time do you have on your NTS??? Do you work in tax? why are you not prepared? If you push it back is that going to make you more prepared..

Answer those questions and you should be able to decide on your own.

@TheHoundThatRides: I am still weak in those areas you mentioned including Government Accounting. I always get it wrong no matter how hard I tried.

@amohr23cubs: My NTS is good until June. Yes, I work in tax and my workload is wearing me down.

I'm taking it on 2/29 as well and considered pushing it back. My wife had a baby 2 weeks ago and I haven't put nearly as much time in to study as I was before. I'm still going to take the exam and here is why.

I really have nothing to lose since this is my first exam. I don't think I'm ready, but I would like to get a feel for the exam experience and see where I stand after taking it. I'm taking off next Thursday and Friday and plan on spending those days plus the weekend working on my weak areas. I've always been a crammer throughout college and find I retain information better that way.

The scores are released only 9 days after, so I will continue to study for FAR in the event I have to take it over. I'll take it again in April and give myself enough time to study for AUD by the end of the window. Although I'm going in trying to pass, I won't be discouraged if I don't and will use the experience to help me for my retake.

The only reason I came up with for postponing is to save money on the exam fee. Everyone's situation is different, but just giving my perspective on why I'm not postponing. Good luck if you decide to take it!

    AUD: 73, 81
    BEC: 71, retake 8/29

I guessed on maybe 80% of the government material on the exam. But I was fairly good in all the intermediate concepts. Government was my only “weak” on the score report and that took me down to an 80 on its own apparently. So if you're weak in government + a lot of other key concepts I'd definitely postpone.

If I were you I'd take a cram course (or watch lectures + do MCQ again for those subjects you know you are weak in) and make sure to get good scores on concepts before you move on to the next chapter.

I'm in the same boat – taking FAR on 2/29 and started studying on 2/7. I had originally planned to take FAR in May, but I want to get this over with. I think I definitely bit off more than I can chew, but I'm still going to take it now. I thought about a cram course, but I've decided to slow down and spend more time on topics that I've had issues with because I'm flying through the material too quickly. My plan is to spend a day on each of the big topics I have left, then leave next Fri-Sun for massive review. I'm also focusing more on MCQ's unless it's something I'm still having big problems with. To the OP, I would still take it as planned if I were you. Grind it out as much as you can and you still may be able to pass.

    BEC - 88 8/29/15
    REG - 82 11/14/15
    AUD - 83 1/8/16
    FAR - 80 2/29/16

I like my date better lol. The AICPA website says most of the results are received within 24 hours, but now I'm a little worried since I'm taking it in the afternoon. Hope I don't have to wait till the 18th.

Everyone is different. From now to 2/29, you have 7 weekdays and 4 weekends. If you can put 5 hours on weekdays and 10 hours on weekends, you can still study for 75 hours more for the exam. Let say for every 30 MCQs, you use around 1 hour to answer them and read the explanation. 75 hours study means 2250 MCQ and it means you are good for the exam.

You got nothing to lose. 🙂

    REG 90
    FAR 95
    AUD 98
    BEC 84

2 weeks out from FAR I finished getting through my prep material. I went back to start reviewing and felt like I couldn't remember a thing.

I studied 4 to 5 hours a day for the next week and a half and all the sudden everything starting to come together.

With that being said, if you've seen all the topics once, look at this time period as a refresher. You've learned it once, now you just need to start recalling it.

    Good luck, you got this!

    FAR - 91
    REG - 88
    AUD - 98
    BEC - 88

If you work in tax I would reschedule…I dont see how you can be prepared to take the most intensive section at the heart of busy season
