Hi guys, I take comfort in knowing that people out there actually understand just how hard the CPA exams really are. I work at an audit firm and I have an issue which I listed below.

But sirstThese are my scores to date:
    AUD: 71, 77
    BEC: 86
    FAR:
    REG: 51, 52

I have couple issues right now:
    1. I can’t seem to pass REG, the content is very difficult for me to grasp.
    2. My AUD credit is going to expire on May 28, 2018.
    3. I haven’t started studying for FAR.

    Questions:
    1. Do you guys think its best for me to schedule to do REG in Nov 2017 seeing that I have the experience and little knowledge in it? Then start studying for FAR on Dec 4, 2017 then sit the exam on Feb 28, 2018?
    2. Or do you guys think I should start studying for FAR first sit the exam in Dec 2017 then do REG in Feb 2018?

Please I look forward to all feedback.

    Thanks in advance.

First of all, Id like to start out by saying you can AND YOU WILL pass this exam! 🙂 Now, my honest opinion is, if it were me, schedule REG first. I know it is giving you trouble, but if you save it for last then it could be your ultimate downfall. Based on the grade and what I have read on here (which is a lot over the past couple months) you seem to be struggling with the material, I am not sure which study material you are using but I used Becker. I found it very useful, however there was a lot I needed to take into my own hands, especially with REG (My personal hardest), so I would really recommend starting from the ground up, and act like you never studied it before and rebuild your foundation. (But just an opinion, and everybody's got one)

Thanks for your advice, I used Wiley before. However, I am using Becker now. So, do you think I should try to study for REG and sit it, then FAR afterwards?

Yeah that would be my advice, as you have already started looking at REG material, and to try and wipe that clean to start FAR only to have to relearn it afterwards seems ineffective in my opinion. Im also stubborn and like to finish something before moving on, gift and a curse. So my opinion, REG now, FAR later.

    @ Nevets

IMO I would take REG in Q4 (push it out as far as you can to give you the most time to study- less time waiting for results). December 7/8 is ideal.
This will give you two more windows in 2018 to try for FAR (if necessary).
Since you have been studying REG somethings have started to stick. If you take a break, do FAR and come back think you may need to relearn more that way.
Also there is no benefit of taking FAR before REG bc there isn't much overlapping.

Ninja MCQ was great for learning REG. The SIMS are killer but ALWAYS fill in answers (even if zero).
Also for REG i did the NINJA way of rewriting the NINJA notes. I felt it was useful but I never used it for any other section but there def was a difference in MCQ performance before and after rewriting them. I managed to pass REG with a 76- think Ninja MCQ saved me 2 pts to pass by the skin of my teeth.

Good Lucking and rooting for you! Third times the charm 🙂

Studying REG now would definitely be more effective, thanks for the advice.

    No problem!

Also it may be helpful to look at the forms blank and filled out – not sure what your strategy is now but to see where the amounts go helps to give you a clearer picture.

    🙂
