Should I bother with Q3??

I took FAR on May 28 and found out last week I failed (badly , 55)

Because of the 10 week delay my score for REG also dropped off.

I applied for an extension for my REG score last Thursday when I found out. I also Applied to re-take both (hoping to cover all bases)

I’m now about 2ish weeks from the Q3 deadline. There is one opening for Sept 8th at a testing center 3 hours from me.

Do I bother trying to take one during Q3??

REG I haven’t studied in 18 months- but I work in tax and have for years, so I’m fairly confident If I buckle down I have a shot at in in 2 weeks.

FAR I obviously need a 20 point swing on- so I don’t think I have a shot with 2 weeks of studying. But It would be more exposure to the next version of the exam (and there’s always a chance you pull questions you know better, ect and end up wiht a 75)

I feel like it’s a waste to not TRY to get something in for q3. Any thoughts?

Oh- and my next passing score, BEC, expires on Nov 7th if I don't pass FAR (and maybe also reg depending on what they finally decide) by that point.

I would wait to see what they say about credit extension, and buckle down on FAR for the next two weeks. I know it feels like you are far away, but two weeks is a lot of time if you attack it correctly. That's just my opinion, good luck!

I agree with @tygolfer. Definitely buckle down on FAR while you wait to hear back on the credit extension. Also, I'd not look at the retake on FAR as needing 20 more points but as needing 75 more points. Whether you can take it in Q3 depends on your schedule: if you're studying full-time and more than halfway through the material, there's a decent chance there. If you're working fulltime, could you consider taking PTO to study? It may be challenging but I think it's doable if you're 3/4th into the material. As for REG, given your background, you should be able to get through the material with 3-4 weeks of review during the blackout window (again, depending on your schedule).

Did you decide to do the cram for this quarter?

I wanted to try to take the exam on September 9th/10th but I've been checking prometric in Tacoma and Lynnwood and they don't have anything available. If I drive down to Portland I can take it on the 8th but that's a few hours from Seattle. I'm trying to cram now in case an appointment opens up – and if it doesn't, I already have a time slot in October. I'm thinking even if I'm ready by September 9th, I'll still have an extra few weeks for review.

    Good luck!

I decided that since they haven't issued extensons yet I'll keep cramming for REG (the one that may or may not drop off depending on extension)

I booked in portland on the 8th for REG and 10th for FAR (yep nothing in the whole WA state)uh….if you want to test on the 8th I guess you could ride with me as long as you're not a murderer.

I figure if they grant an extension on REG- I'll cancel that test and still take FAR even tho I hadn't studied just for more exposure to the new version of the exam (then plan to actually take it in November)

If no extension- I'll try for REG on Sept 8th and move FAR out to November
