So here is the situation: Wednesday while taking REG the power went out so now in the process of getting my replacement NTS which is such a joy. So now I won’t be able to find out my score until December 22. I need to pass REG and FAR by the end of JAN 2018 to keep from losing my BEC credit. So here is where I ask the question: How should I handle testing for REG and FAR in the next few months? I made a 74 on REG last time so I know enough to be dangerous but obviously not enough to pass. Haven’t taken FAR yet and would love to have 2 shots at FAR just in case. Thanks for any input.

I would recommend taking REG in the beginning of October, so you have about a month of review. As Jeff says, you don't need one more point, you need 75 more points. So a month gives you time to refresh and get through all the material again and hone up on the areas you were weaker on.

Then once you take REG, take FAR 12/10, so you have about 10ish weeks to study. FAR is a beast and you will definitely need at least 8 weeks to get through the material. And when you find out if you passed/failed FAR, you still have the rest of December and however much of January to retake it, giving you the two shots you want.

Also forgot to add I would ask the state board for an extension. I know it may not happen but another couple months or a window would be worth a lot.
