Would you schedule a FAR retake exam after or before a planned vacation? Going to Hawaii in May for 9 days.

Would you think it is better to reschedule the retake before the vacation or after the vacation?

I need to request time off from work for the retake.

    Thanks!

(Have not received score back yet)

It does not hurt if you plan on retaking it within 6 months. It takes some time to process the NTS and plus May is when everyone graduate so I am sure Nasba will take much longer to have it process. Their site says may take up to 4-6 weeks before getting your NTS. Since you mentioned you have yet to receive the score I would wait till then. Good Luck next week! Hope no retake.

If it were me, I'd take it before vacation. The last thing you want over vacation is to have to study because you're not ready–you want to enjoy yourself! Plus, being on vacation will help clear your head and you won't have to suffer through as much anxiety waiting for your results.

    AUD - 93 (10/16/2015)
    REG - 69 (11/23/2015); 86 (1/14/2016)
    BEC - 82 (02/26/2016)
    FAR - 79 (6/9/2016)

I would take it before the vacation.

I've done both, where I've waited to take it, and where I've taken it before leaving. I prefer the latter.

If you wait until after vacation, you're going to be tempted to bring study materials with you and you probably won't get in quality study. Then, if you don't do so well – you're going to feel bad for taking a vacation and not devoting enough time.

If you do it before vacation, your focus can be 100% on performing well on the test, then as soon as you get out of that test you can pack and do what you need to unwind until you get that passing score!

For my AUD retake, I was in the same position, and I decided to just have a hell-ish month and take it before – which paid off. 🙂

    Good luck.

Take it before vacation. That way, you can truely have a vacation. 🙂 Also, on the NTS – they are much quicker at processing once you've already applied. Anytime I've applied for a new NTS, I've always had it within 5 days. The last time, I had it in 24 hours. I would still plan for extra time, but the 4-6 weeks should only be for the first time – not future requests.

    BEC - 88 8/29/15
    REG - 82 11/14/15
    AUD - 83 1/8/16
    FAR - 80 2/29/16
