What is the reasoning behind the fact that you can’t sit for the same exam in the same window you took the first exam in?

….”broken system” sums it up just right. The math is correct by Ana…12 months if you count all the blackout dates etc NOT 18 months like the AICPA wants you to believe.

The technology is there for the AICPA to release scores the next day…it is machine graded!!! In a perfect world you get scores next day…study a couple weeks to 1 month if if you fail and retake. Get rid of the these stupid blackout dates as well (11 to 30th of every month). That would allow someone to take the same part 3 times in a window. I see no problem with that.

    Shawn,

No one is saying the test isn't hard, but if you make the test easier then the credential of CPA is going to lose value. You'll only wish it was easier up to the point you become a CPA.

That said, I don't see that big of a problem taking a second test in the same window if they could somehow guarantee a varied testing experience the second time. (I am sure they have some good logistical reasons why they do not do this)

I'd rather see them allow same window testing and set a limit at the number of fails to something reasonable.

I 100% agree Shawn on the score release. why does it take them months to release a grade that they can determine instantly? Yeah, maybe they double check some of the exams, but even then you can release the scores much quicker. It's really suspicious on the whole idea that the AICPA curves the exams based on pass rates, which I'm 95% convinced happens.
