Review material for audit – suggestions?

Sorry for posting this question which has undoubtedly been asked 1 million times. Any searches I’ve done come up with fairly old links and I’m curious which review material most people are using for the Audit section currently? I used Becker 10 years ago and passed Audit and BEC and then went into internal audit and didn’t pursue the certification any further. I can’t afford Becker.

I’m using Yaeger for FAR and honestly I don’t know I can stand watching much more of their videos. I hit the wall on Yaeger videos and haven’t done anything for the last two weeks and have yet to watch governmental and NFP modules (the last two modules for Yaeger). Finally pushed myself back to the videos tonight. I have purchased the NINJA MCQ and will use those versus the Yaeger MCQ module.

I’ve looked at Rogers materials and the sample for Audit. He does seem to do a pretty good job of breaking down everything and really explaining everything. I thought I’d be kind of turned off by the jokes – Peter Olinto and Tim Gearty got old real fast.

Was just curious what others are using and like and why. Thank you in advance for any feedback!

Well, I was hoping for some feedback but I guess no one had anything to offer. Based on the message on the Yaeger Review site, I'm making a pretty good hunch they are being bought out or closing the doors. So, in a round about way, they have narrowed choices down between Roger and CPAExcel for me – with NINJA material as supplement. Guess I'll go with Roger for Audit. I watched the free sample video and it looks like he really does a great job explaining things. I'm sure Yaeger helped a lot of people pass the exam – I have a really close friend that used it and passed everything on the first attempt. BUT, the videos make me want to either fall asleep or jam pencils in my eardrums.

Still kind of sad seeing something just go poof though. Feel more sad for people that have invested money in the product and if they really are closing, they are probably not going to get their money's worth and definitely not the support that was touted as a key feature of the product.

Hello. I just passed AUD with an 89 and used Roger CPA and supplemented MCQ's with Ninja (only $47). Roger does an awesome job with the lectures explaining items and I think his books are outstanding. I have used Roger for FAR, BEC and AUD and have passed the first time on each and am using him with REG. Ninja for the MCQ is worth the small cost so you can constantly practice the MCQ's. I would highly recommend Roger CPA for AUD.

Thank you, thank you, gobigblue! Congrats on seeing the light at the end of the tunnel! I watched the sample video on his site and it definitely didn't look boring. Looks like Yaeger is shutting it's doors, so just tonight that helped push me towards Roger too. I purchased the NINJA MCQs for FAR and working on finishing a couple of lecture modules/homework and then just going to plug away at MCQs. Definitely like the NINJA product.

Thanks again for the affirmation and again, congrats on almost being done and best wishes on REG 🙂

Looks like I'm going that route too TrackStar. I believe like most people that regardless of the review material, if you put in the time you have a good chance of passing. BUT, I think some people do better with different presentation styles. Yaeger, as nice as they are, just kill me on the videos. The video editing on the 2016 FAR was really sloppy and it's hard to stay focused on Leases for a 80 minute lecture. UGH.

Best of luck on your exams and thanks for the feedback!!

Roger CPA is really, really good for FAR also. I have zero Audit experience and his teaching methods and lectures just clicked for me. Another thing is people say do MCQ's over and over but I found with Audit to re-read the book over and over and over. I would read once section every night before bed and even though reading the sections a ton of times it was worth it for me to absorb the information. Audit is 95% memorization and not much calculations compared to FAR (which Roger was AWESOME with his lectures and doing problems in his lectures to show you the steps to get the final answer.)

So glad I found this post! I am debating between Rogers and using Ninja as a supplement. Rogers looks like a good option and they are now releasing DRS simulations as well. I am starting with AUD and then going to FAR. Plan on taking exams in the last window for 2016 as I have to finish the last 4 credits I need to sit for the exam. Thanks to all for the input and good luck!

Roger is awesome. His lectures really break it down, makes it easy to follow and is pretty entertaining. He kept me engaged and listening! I passed FAR on the first attempt. AUD is on Saturday, though with AUD I'm supplementing Roger with Ninja MCQs just to get a ton more MCQs to get used to the “trick” writing of them. Good luck!

    FAR - Passed (04/16) ROGER
AUD - Passed (05/16) ROGER & Ninja MCQs
REG - Passed (07/16) ROGER & Ninja MCQs
    BEC - 08/16

Appreciate the feedback y'all! One thing I'm a little upset about right now though is my lame profile name compared to all of you. GitRdone2017…”MSelaineous – miscellaneous” Trackstar, gobigblue. Y'all make me chuckle when I see those. And then I have my dull profile name that looks like something from the AOL days 😉

Thanks for the input on the Roger review.

Roger is awesome ! but his MCQ is not that awesome. I hate it doesn't do random questions right. Go get a Ninja MCQ. Can't beat $47. Watch Roger lecture, do all Ninja MCQ, read the textbook for review, and nail the exam 🙂

marqzho – I hope you're right about the warriors! I live in OKC and loathe the Thunder 😉 I'm a Spurs fan; so jumped on the warrior bandwagon. Please don't make me end up having to cheer for the Cavs 🙂 LOL.

I like KD. So if GSW can't turn it around, I will want to see KD kicks James ass.
