Retook BEC … and probably FAILED ;asjdflkjad;lkfaerdsadf

I am seriously at a loss. I passed the other exams which are allegedly more difficult than BEC. Came close to passing BEC the first try, and was one point away. Studied an additional five weeks after failing and I took a test today in which half the material was either stuff I had not seen or some obscure topic that CPAexcel spent a paragraph on.

I am 99% sure I failed. I guessed on probably 10-12 questions. Not the educated kind of guess where you narrow questions down. I don’t even know what just happened. The thought of spending another couple of months with BEC makes me want to walk into traffic.

I seriously feel very defeated. I cannot even handle my coworkers asking me how it went on Monday. It makes me want to call in sick. If I hadn’t spent two thousand dollars on my study software and a grand in tests I would quit. I don’t even think I would feel guilty about it. Maybe that is my problem. I forgot the reasons I want to become a CPA. Instead I just feel crushed all the time by the very thought of even looking at accounting. Maybe I am just going through the motions? I haven no idea at this point.

Zack I feel you bro. Just took BEC. Felt like I was about to crush it, was killing NINJA MCQ and thought the AICPA “difficult” questions from 2015 were easy… guessed on a solid amount of questions. Tons of calculations on mine eating up the clock. Just want to burn every single Becker book and live in my parents basement.

I will keep my fingers crossed for you. I also had a ton of calculations. My first attempt at this part was mostly conceptual with only a couple calculations. I guess I expected a similar offering and focused on really working the concepts. In hindsight I should have done a million multiple choice questions. I feel crushed at the moment but I guess I will come up with a new strategy next attempt. The bright side is its so early in the window I can take a month off before I need to think about this stuff again otherwise I'll run the risk of studying to soon and forgetting everything by next exam.

Keep in mind that in order to get as hard of a test as you're talking about, you had to do well for at last 2/3 of the test. Last testlet would have been easier. How did the writing part go? Some people that have your experience end up crushing the test and getting high scores. I use CPA Excel and may have had one question I didn't recognize. Took my test on the 8th.

I wish I had your experience procrastinator! Everything looked very foreign on the MCQ. Which was the opposite of the first exam. I do feel like I did well on the written part. I knew each question and kept to the structure and tried to use as many key words as possible. I guess I'll know for sure in May but I'm not staying up to check.

I've spent the past two hours googling different variations of “thought you failed bec but passed” threads to try to feel a little better. It does seem like most of those threads that people updated as they got their scores were borderline either way. There wasn't any I thought it failed bec and got a 97. Which makes sense – people that are outraged over the exam and post tend to have prepared. I can't imagine making a thread like this if I had spent two days flipping through the material. So if you put in the work I guess that means you have a shot at passing.

Hopefully that means I can be one of the lucky ones that got a 76 or a 77. I still don't think I will stay up late and lose sleep waiting for my score. But I'm going to keep my fingers crossed and hope that May 5 will be the last stressful day of this experience.

I wanted to update this for the next people that leave the testing center feeling doomed and stumble upon this thread looking for a shred of hope to keep them sane through the wait until score release day … Miracles CAN happen. I passed with a 77. I can finally reclaim my life!
