    Hey guys,

I interned at a big 4 last summer and will be starting full time as an audit associate this fall. I am currently studying for the audit section which is really starting to concern me about my decision to become an auditor. I absolutely hate the audit section and am finding it painfully boring and dreadful (I found FAR/REG 10x more interesting if that alone says anything).

So I was wondering how similar studying for the audit section is to the real world life of an auditor? Will everything from the audit section appear again when I become an audit associate? Is it at least a little more interesting in the real world?

    FAR: 87
    REG: 90
    BEC: 74(ouch), retake 7/16/16
    AUD: 96

Haha you have to remember this is just a test and not the real world. You are being forced to read words from a book and study for a difficult exam. I am sure that is adding to your boredom.

But to answer your question…it depends on the person. I found audit at the B4 to be very interesting. I learned so much and FAR is still applicable in audit too if you are auditing financial statements etc. The audit test just tells you how an audit works not how it actually is implemented and how it ends up. They do not talk about being part of an IPO or auditing a newly acquired business. It is not boring at all in that regard. You are constantly being challenged to learn something new and apply that to your work. Do not worry about being bored in auditing you will always have work to do that will be challenging. At least I did!

    AUD - 69, 77
    REG - 74, 81
    FAR - 75!
    BEC - 71, 82

    IL candidate!

    Finally done (5/24/16)!! Yahooooooo!

I'm also in public audit, and based off my own personal experience I've used skills/traits/knowledge from all 4 sections of the CPA exam. You have to remember, as an intern most of the time, you're not getting the full 100% experience of being a full-time employee.
