So I just took BEC (hoping I passed- send prayers my way please!!!) and I will be taking REG Feb 29, which gives me a little over a month to study! I have never taken REG so I have no idea what to expect or how to prepare for it! Since each exam is a diff monster I was hoping any of you have some advice/comments you could give me…

Also, looking for a study buddy! (applications are open). I work full-time (around 50 hrs/week) and my bday is this weekend so I might not study this Friday.. Besides that, I am planning to go full ninja on this exam since my AUD expires on July and I still have FAR to go.

Sooooo REG advices for ONE-month studying? And also.. Anyone interested in a study buddy?

The best advice I can give you is to do tons of MCQs and take notes on the ones you get wrong.

Feel free to ask questions in the study group – or even better, once you're comfortable with the material start answering questions. Answering others' questions on the material is great for making sure you really know the material because you'll be explaining it to others in a way they can understand, rather than just regurgitating the information.

I agree, what I understand that MCQ is the way to go. That's what I am doing. Notes, audio, and MCQ's .Jeff has a how to pass in 20 days, of course there are more than 20 days, but the method is great to focus and jump right into the material and not waste time. How much tax experience do you have? I've taken REG, and I think I could have done it in a month, but I also have a Master's in Tax and 9 years of work experience. Others have given you great advice. I'd cut out as much lecture time as possible – only look at lectures or the book for areas you are weak on. One thing I did that cut out about 40% of Roger's lectures is I gave myself pretests of each section, which consisted of about 30 MCQ's from his test bank. If I scored above a 70 on a section, I skipped that section's lectures. My reasoning was I figured I could make up points by practicing MCQ's. Also, make sure you read the explanations for the MCQ answers, so you know WHY you got them right or wrong. Lastly, depending on tax background, look at the forms. Know where the deduction or adjustment, etc. is reported and how the schedules flow to the returns. I skipped this part because of my tax background, but I think this is very helpful for non-tax people, especially if you are a visual learner. Good luck!

We are in the same boat. I just took BEC a little over a week ago and my REG exam is February 29th. I will not be able to study the first week of February, so that puts me on a 5 week study schedule. My goal (and this might apply to you) is to finish reviewing the material by February 12th and just take non stop MCQ's for the remaining time until the exam.

Here is another good thing though. Taking the REG exam at the end of February is a good strategy. This is because if you fail, you can re-take it in April. However on the other hand, if you wait until April and fail, you can't take it until July. February 29th is exactly 5 weeks from today, which I think is barely enough time to make it work if you work full time. My goal is to take a lot of MCQ's.

GHardesty- Great strategy! I am going to do the same! I don't have tax background at all (took two classes in during my bachelors 3 years ago and they were hell to me) So I think I might have to go through all the material at least once.

Reg is a slow learn for me. I've been trying to get through this Material since late Nov when I found out I passed Audit. I'm only on ch 18 of 20 using Gleim. I though once I hit BLAW, that it would be smooth sailing. I swear every question in my test bank is a paragraph long. I can only knock out no more than 30-50 questions a day. Test is on Feb 13, hopefully that's enough time to review. Best of luck!

i have a power 2weeks of REG coming up, been reading strictly past 10 days- just starting MCQ's today. good luck to all we can kick ass on this!

remember to not focus on phaseouts, thats just useless info/numbers to waste precious brain real estate. just kno the things that have phaseouts.

i also dont plan to do the SocSec calculation just multiply it by 80% on the test and move on!
