REG Exam Experience

So just took REG today and honestly have no clue how to feel about it…

The first testlet was somewhat easy. There were a couple of questions that I had no clue but for the most part I think I knew most of them, probably flagged 3-4. The second testlet seemed more difficult than the first. It wasn’t overly wordy but it seemed more complex/tricky. Probably flagged around 5-6. Third testlet was somewhere in between the first and second testlets with around 3-4 flagged.

The sims were not terrible as I was expecting. I had a good grasp of what I was doing on about 2-3 of them. 2 of them I think I got partially right and 1 was pretty difficult. The research question was very bizzare and could of gone either way.

Anyone else have a similiar experience? At this point I don't think I passed…

I'm waiting on Reg and have no idea what to expect. Took it the first time last Fall, unprepared and knew I was going to fail, I got a 61. Put in over 100 hrs of studying and took it in December, it seemed pretty easy, thought for sure I passed and got a 62.. Retook it last week, after a lot more studying, It was tougher than the exam I took in Dec. First testlet flagged maybe 6 Q's. Second testlet flagged 3-4, last testlet flagged maybe 5 and think I did well on the Sims.. feel confident about getting the research question right..

I also looked back at some of the ones I was unsure of and my educated guesses seemed to be right on 2-3 occasions that I had flagged.

That said.. given what happened in Dec (still can't wrap my head around getting a 62 back then), I'm super nervous about what to expect. I'm still not confident I understand how the scoring works, but I have the others passed and need this one.

Regarding your situation – its encouraging that your 2nd testlet got harder and that you had a good grasp of the sims. From what I heard if you do well on the 1st testlet, they get harder.

When I passed FAR, I was sick during the exam, thought for sure I failed and ended up passing. Then I thought I crushed Reg in December and missed badly. Hard to know what to expect.. Sounds like you're on the cusp. Fingers crossed & Good Luck!

I took REG on Saturday. I got a 64 back in Q4 of 2016 and put in around 50 hours this go-around. This section honestly felt easier than the Q4 exam where I spent a larger amount of time. I flagged less than 4 questions on each testlet(HOPING THOSE WERE PRETEST!) Of course time will tell when we receive our scores on the 21st.

    All the best

Took my test today. Didn't seem to get harder at all through all three teslets, yet I still struggled with the questions. I feel like I guessed on way more than I should have needed to.

TBS and research were tough too. I went into those with 2 hours left and finished the exam with 6 minutes to spare. Don't feel good about it at all.

    @CPYAY

You only spent 1 hour on MCQ? how on earth did you do this?

I blitz through MCQs. I do on all my exams. I don't go back to questions unless I didn't mark an answer at all and have to go back to choose an answer (I will flag it in case I see something in another question that clues me in). I found that I usually change incorrect answers if I go back. So, once I answer it, it's “locked in” and I move along. I've had ample time on all the exams to do the TBS questions, which is where I spend a majority of my time.

Plus, I didn't have many wordy questions.

@CPYay- I had a similar experience as you. I don't think anyone prepared more than I did for my REG retake, but I didn't feel like the mcq's got harder. Maybe I got so used to doing crazy hard Gleim mcq's that nothing seemed difficult in comparison. My sims were more manageable than my first exam, but still didn't feel good about two of them. Not sure I got the research correct either. Even after checking when I got home, I'm still not sure I got it right lol. Guess we'll find out soon enough if I passed or not.

Its so hard to judge if my multiple choice got harder. I feel like the first testlet was decently easy but there were like 3-4 questions that I thought were really hard (maybe they were pre-test?). I think my 2nd testlet was harder because I flagged more but the third testlet was similar to the first. I purposely did not go back and check a lot of my answers because I wanted enough time for the sims. I always have a hard time finding the research question but I think that I got most of the credit on my other sims. I know I definitely made some stupid mistakes on the multiple choice but there were some questions that did not add up…literally.

Does anyone have any tips on what chapters I should concentrate on? I have only till Friday for my exam and I have not been able to get through everything since it's busy season ahh

@SallyCPA Did we took the same test? hahaha I feel the same exact way and the exam experience was pretty much the same as yours.
It was somewhat easy, but still I feel I missed too much. Not confident about it.

@cdelval Sounds like it! Some of the multiple choice seemed easy at first but there would be some added twist that would throw me off completely. I felt confident going into this test too… I was averaging a 85 on ninja mcq. The sims for some reason were not absolutely terrible as everyone has said. What did you think about the mcq?

@SallyCPA It's hard to tell exactly, but this is what I think:

    1st testlet: Easy – Flagged 3-4 questions
    2nd testlet: Easy/Medium – Flagged 4-5 questions
    3rd testlet: Medium – Flagged 5-6 questions

Overall, most of the questions seemed easy to answer, but there was always something that will throw me off. Maybe I was overthinking.
