B/c its their test and they can make you as miserable as they want. I still dont think that's as bad a waiting a month for scores on a computerized test, but the test is not curved….

I think the reason that SOX is not necessarily tested in REG is because REG is more focused on Business Law and, primarily, taxes, and SOX is more related to financial reporting. So, I'd expected to see SOX-related questions in FAR more than I would expect to see them in REG, though they could be in either. Doesn't mean SOX isn't in the CPA exam at all, but that it's not likely to be in REG, though possible.

Also, IFRS isn't US law, but it is still accounting standards. I think the inclusion of IFRS is a reflection of the progressively global environment of accounting and the increasing likelihood that a CPA passing the exams right now might be expected to be knowledgeable in IFRS during the time they hold the CPA certification.

I still don't understand why test IFRS. What's the point .!?

    REG 90
    FAR 95
    AUD 98
    BEC 84

I felt the same way about the exam. The AICPA is left to decide the best questions to test the candidates ability to “protect the public.” When you get your scores back, you'll see the following wording, which I always thought was hilarious:

“A score of 75 indicates examination performance reflecting a level of knowledge and skills that is sufficient for the protection of the public.”

    Good luck studying.

    BEC 80

lol pleasedon't– if my FAR score is as bad as I fear it is then my score report will probably read “absolute menace to society”

mckan, are you still looking over the FAR material? Good Luck with REG! I am not fully moved on to BEC yet lol. I really wish they could grade these things faster.

@Spartan- boo on you for flip flopping Reg and Bec on me!!! and HA! yes I am totally dragging my feet on REG studying- have started but not fully– NO- I am actually not looking at FAR right now– at all. For me it is counter-productive. I am pretty positive I failed but reviewing the material while trying to study for another section is going to do nothing but get me stressed out for BOTH the upcoming section AND the eventual retake- and then of course you have that little tiny far away voice that says “what if you didn't actually fail”— so then I would have wasted valuable brain cells… so I will just start fresh with FAR when the time comes-

Probably because CPA's may deal with international firms that use IFRS as their basis of accounting – particularly in auditing.

I come from an IFRS country and we had to learn GAAP all through my accounting degree.

I thought it was a waste of time, and equally frustrating as what you are dealing with. I ended up working for one of the big 4, and one of my clients had their parent in the USA. I ended up having to do tax effect using GAAP.

It'll probably come in handy one day, you just don't realize it right now.

Unrelated, but I want to vent about random globalization questions. I've only seen them in Ninja, not in CPAExcel…but who cares about some super specific question concerning global wealth investment blah blah blah….These aren't even logical/theoretical questions…just memorizing random facts. Ugh.

Skynet, I couldn't care about baseball altogether, baseball sucks and is boring. I don't know how people could watch it for 4 hours.

Soccer is the new baseball, but the Royals are still a great team.

Haha right mckan! Good luck with REG. I figured it is probably better for me to move REG and BEC around since BEC is much shorter. Maximize my time to study for REG. Waiting for more open slots in july :/
