Hi, so im missing one class, LSU online keeps being recommeneded, they have a course called ACCT 4235 Fraud auditing and forensic accounting, seems pretty straight forward. So my question is, does anyone know if all of their courses are accepted by the state board, i would hate to take this and not get the credit at the end. Thanks in advance.

I took that exact same course online at LSU to get my 150 hours. TN state board accepted it. The class was an absolute breeze.

I took all of my accounting courses through LSU (both for my undergrad and additional ones required for licensure), and all were accepted by KY State Board. LSU is a fully accredited state school, and I haven't heard of any state boards that didn't accept their credits.

Fraud Auditing and Forensic Accounting is in their new online format, so doesn't require going to a proctor center. The “web-enabled” courses required exams to be proctored by a full-time library or university employee (or something like that – haven't reviewed the requirements in awhile, I had mine proctored by an employee at the local college), but the “online” ones have web-based proctoring. So, for the Fraud course, your exams will be proctored via webcam. You'll schedule an appointment, log in with your webcam on, and usually at the start the proctor will have you pan your webcam around your testing space so that they can confirm you don't have notes out or any other means of cheating. Then they'll screen share your screen so that they can see what you see on your computer (to make sure you're not Googling answers) and will watch you through the webcam (to make sure you're not reading the book), and you'll take the exam online. If I remember right, you could watch them, too, if you wanted to, but of course it was better to focus on the exam than to focus on the proctor. At a few points, though, my proctors looked like they were about to fall asleep. 😀 It's a very simple process, though. There is a fee for it – I think it was around $30/exam – but it's not too bad and much more convenient than having to go somewhere to get the exam proctored.

Does the course follow the typical Fall, Spring, or Summer semester timeline or can you start it anytime?

    AUD - 75
    REG - 79
    BEC - 79
    FAR - August

I really enjoyed the course. LA's CPA board accepted it.

You should be able to start it at any time.

    Licensed CPA
Passed each section on the first try with Ninja Notes/MCQ/Audio

Start anytime, finish as soon as 8 weeks or take up to 6 months to complete the course. When you submit your application and pay the fee for the course, you should have access within a week, and the 8 week minimum or 6 month maximum time starts when you get access to the course. I don't think any of mine took longer than that to process.

Anyone know what the cost of this is for out of state? I am in TN and I am needing one class and this could work really well.

If the school is accredited, which most are, your state board should accept it. I have 140 credits myself and 30 in accounting. My state requires 36. The key is you need to take a course that you have not as an undergrad. I will look into this one now for sure. Thanks!

@mvol5 $651 for a 3-credit course: https://www.outreach.lsu.edu/Extended-Campus/Online-Distance-Learning/Tuition-Fees The online courses are the same price for in-state and out-of-state. Also $31.25 per exam for proctoring through ProctorU, and of course books are in addition.

Thanks Lilla, that is not bad. Much cheaper than this MBA program I am in for my hours. If for some reason I can't pass a CLEP I am going to look into this more!

For any of you who've taken LSU 4235 Fraud Exam. – what were the exams like? I have the midterm in about one week but I am unsure the best material to study… any insight is appreciated – thank you!
