Hello Present and Future CPAs,

My REG exam is this Sunday, and of course around this time we start freaking out thinking of anything and everything that could go wrong exam day (I do at least). Anyway, for those who have taken REG – would you say the SIMS instructions were adequate in making it very clear when to use zeros vs. leaving a cell blank, and using negative and positive numbers. I ask this because a couple of Becker’s SIMS provide NO instruction in those regards, and I just did one where I got everything right but many of the items were marked as wrong because I used zeros when I shouldn’t have and didn’t use negative numbers when I should have – again Becker gave no instruction as to do one or the other. Can anyone speak to this? Input is appreciated.

I recall the exam instructions being specific as to whether to use positive or negative numbers and whether to enter 0 or leave a cell blank.

However, I did have a big problem with the clarity of the instructions on one of my REG Sims. I don't know how much info is too much for the watchful eyes of the AICPA's secret police, so suffice it to say that the instructions were very vague about which limitations on deductions to apply in calculating your answers and which ones to disregard. This was surprising and frustrating because I always found Becker/NINJA questions to be very clear on this issue.

I can't tell you what to do because I don't know what questions you're going to get on your exam. I'm just saying to be prepared.
