Question about NTS expiration

    Hi all,

so due to my personal issue, I can’t take the exam scheduled on early December.
what concerns me is that, my NTS expires soon and so “rescheduling” is not an option.

So, my options are not to show up on exam date and leave it like that,
or cancel the exam. (I am assuming there is a fee).

    What should I do?
Trying to figure out if the cancellation fee outweighs potential disadvantages that I am going to get
for just simply not showing up on exam.

the only reason to cancel would be to reschedule at a later time.
if that is not an option then I would not lay out any money to cancel but rather just let it expire.
If you are able to sit for the exam, even if you are not prepared, I would advise that.

You can always call Prometric to let them know you won't be able to make it so perhaps someone else could use that time slot.

Nothing will happen if you no-show on the exam instead of cancelling it. My transcript shows an “N” for the exam I didn't show up for, but that's it. You'll be able to pay for and receive a new NTS after it expires.

And cancelling will include a fee – and that will depend how far out your exam is. At this point, you're likely at a week or less, so you're looking at like $75 I think.

    AUD - 56 - 68 - 61 - 9/8/16
    REG - 75
    FAR - 7/15/16
    BEC - TBD

Question – if you fail it during the NTS do you get to retake with the same NTS or do you have to obtain another one?

@CRAD4CPA, NTS is good for only one exam. Once you used it (pass, fail or expired) you can't use it again. You, must obtain another NTS to schedule another exam. Also, you cannot schedule to test the same subject in the same window.
