Is it possible that we appear for CPA exam under one particular board & apply for licensure of some other state board?

For eg- CPA exam under California Board & apply for license under Maine Board ?

Or is it so that both exam & license has to be applied for under same board ?

    Thanks !

its possible…the exam is uniform for all the states. there will be extra fees if you “sat for the exam' in a different state and transfer the scores to another state.

its a good way to get started on your exams in states with more lax requirements for sitting, however, remember that you will run into the same hurdles when finally getting licensed in the state of your choice. it is more of a temporary solution, a timing thing. good luck!

    Hey eesti….

Temporary solution, timing thing.. did not get what you meant….

Will the license from other state be temporary or so?

Thanks. I know its a hurdle to transfer your scores to other state.

There is a CPA mobility site that helps you figure this out. I started this journey in one state and now reside in another. For me it makes sense to finish my exams and apply for a license in my “home” state and then take my “home” license and apply for reciprocity in my “new” state. Check fees, doing this is more paperwork and $300 less.
