Okay, so I just spoke with my BOA (VA). They are saying that due to the new 10 week score release for Q2, they will be providing extensions for exams expiring in August of this year. I have AUD and FAR passed, but just found out last night that I failed BEC with a 69 :(. I’m really beating myself up about it because I thought for sure I passed. Now I will have to retake BEC and REG in the Q2 testing window so I can find out my scores by the time my AUD expires ( or so I thought!).

Now it looks like I will at least be able to retake REG or BEC in the Q3 winow before I lose AUD.

    Anyone else in this boat?

well i'm in a similar boat where i only have 1 exam left and my first one expires in August. so what do i do? Take it in April? or take it in July/August? If i find out i fail in August an exam i took in April i won't remember ANYTHING for a retake in October. Also, work will be less busy in July. But i want to just take it and be done with it at this point so do i just try my best and if i feel super ready end of April, for example, do i just go for it? In my experience being “super ready” doesn't always get you a passing grade so it's very hard to decide!

It's sad but i thought i failed REG (again) and had already given up on the journey. so when i found out i passed this morning i was almost annoyed…i can't give up now! but this now means it drags on until at least august ha.

I really hope all states follow this policy. It's really stupid how some people may have to pay for exam fees and study for a retake for an exam they already passed. But they have to play it safe and study for it twice.

i agree. also because they may be extending the expiration date of exams to 24 months over 18 and allow for more than 1 sitting in a testing window. that's the biggest hurdle for anyone! and i bet they'll agree on this once i've given up in a few months.

What about if your expiration month is end of May in a non-NASBA state? So simply you could take your last exam in Q2. You would have to wait till mid-August to see if you lose a credit or not. The whole thing is so confusing.

They need to make the new policy 2 years, starting Q2. I know they're not gonna do it, but they really should…if not now, then ASAP. No, it's not fair to have to pay your state board and then NASBA all over again to take the same test that you passed not too long ago.

I think the score release for Q2 is August 15th which means that if you take an exam on April 1st, you will be waiting 4 1/2 months for your result. Or, 10 weeks if you do it at the end of May. In the meantime, what do you do? Answer: move on to a new section and don't waste time waiting.

You definitely need to move on if you have more sections waiting for you. This is more for a person who take the last exam in Q2 and one passed section would expires in 8/31, in this situation the person misses the opportunity to take an exam in July if failed the Q2 exam. I really think the state board should extent the expiration date for another 3 months. Does anyone knows if NYS doing it?

& what about Q3 timeline? will it be more normal? Because my BEC expires in August I just want to sit the exam as close as i can to the end of the window before the window in which it expires, which should be end November if they allow another window…..running sentences are my forte…
If scoring is more normal i'd rather sit in Q3 with a possible resit in Q4 as i'll be sitting them closer together and losing less information! if i sit it in April and find out in August I failed i'll basically be starting from scratch for a resit and that'll make me sad. I don't see anything on NASBA/AICPA about Q3 though.

Yeah, one person actually told me “Don't do any other sections until you've passed FAR. Do it first and just don't do anything else until you've passed it.” ROTTEN ADVICE.
I thought of retaking FAR in Q2 but now I am not going to do that. I'll do it in Q3 or even Q4 because I don't want to waste time re-reading FAR stuff when I have three other exams
    that haven't been taken.

I'd actually encourage anyone to knock out as many exams as possible in Q2, despite the delay in score release. If you're ready to take two or three (or four?) exams, just get them out of the way as fast as humanly possible. I don't know this for sure at all but the AICPA might be more lenient with the questions and the scoring in Q2 simply because this is going to be the maiden voyage of the new version.

I haven't seen an actual date for Q3 scores to be released, but I did find this…

Q: What is the testing window?
    A. Candidates may sit for the CPA Examination during each quarter, or testing window. They are: January 1 – March 10 (Q1), April 1 – May 31 (Q2), July 1 – September 10 (Q3), and October 1 – December 10 (Q4). Scores are released four times for the first testing window while scores will be released once after the close of the Q2, Q3 and Q4 testing windows to allow for a review of candidate data and setting of the passing score.

…so it appears Q3 will have one score release date like the one that's already been announced for Q2, which is August 16-18.

Q3 will have one score release date but you don't have to wait more than 2 months like Q2, that's why few state boards are planning to extend the passing score for 3 months for those take a section in Q2 and another section expires in Aug/Sept.

Found the score release dates…Sorry, the spacing didn't transfer!

Test Window>>> Approximate Release Date of Candidate Scores

    2017 Q2
    April 1 – May 31>>> August 16 – 18

    2017 Q3
    July 1 – September 10>>> September 22

    2017 Q4
    October 1 – December 10>>> December 22

Not sure about November, Q3 and Q4 scores release about 10 days after the last exam date, but Q2 score releases two months after the last exam day. If you take an exam in April, you will need to wait 4 months, basically you missing the opportunity to take an exam in Q3. Below is the link to IL state board which explains the score extension:

Let's post here if you know there are more states doing it.
