So wanted to start a topic about the delay score release for the upcoming score release on March 8th? What does everyone think, they will most likely increase the curve? Also, they did delay the score without any notification, i was looking forward to my score release this week until i found out they delayed them. Im hoping this is my last exam (BEC) and this journey can be over. Wanted yall thoughts on it?

At least – if the score release has been pushed back – you all can enjoy your lives a little longer before the countdown-clock-anxiety!

I never counted on a curve. If they do curve, they keep it a secret. I'd rather just aim for a 90 and hope to get somewhere close. Never got close. Highest score was a 78 (on FAR – go figure). After passing 3 exams, it took me 4 attempts to pass REG (my final one), so I definitely don't think they show extra favor to those who are on their last one.

Good luck to all on March 8th!

There ain't no curve. Even if there was, your time is better spent studying or enjoying life rather than thinking about the process or conspiracy theories of how the exam is graded.

Hi all. I'm new here but based on the scoring booklet I assumed that the CPA exam does not score with a curve per se, but there is an inherent curve because of the weighting algorithm they use. I believe the aggregate performance on the questions in that testing window will determine a test takers actual score. For example, if you take a test with 12 questions, and there are 4 easy, 4 medium and 4 hard questions, the 4 medium questions will have a greater weight than the easier and harder questions (the performance within that testing window decides what would be deemed easy, hard or medium). Therefore, if your test had many hard questions, and your peers did not perform well on them either, many of the questions will be weighted less than other more fair questions. The same goes with overly easy questions. In order to maintain a 53% pass rate for BEC, they've probably set up a standard deviation curve for the results for each question. Questions which are correct 53% of the time receive the most weight. The further a question is on the standard deviation curve (either too hard or too easy) the lower weight that question receives.

Maybe test questions are the ones so far away from 53% that it would be unfair to grade them.

    Once again, this is speculation.
