Just wondering if the testing site calculator allows you to punch calculations quickly. Because there is a glitch with my laptop, I didn’t perform any BEC calcs with the Gleim calculator (which simulates Prometric), but I used my own calculator. For those that have taken exams and used it, is it decent?

you can check out the calculator by tsking the bec practice exam on aicpa. it is a short demo version of the test environment and requires windows with internet explorer not a mac.
choose the right section from these links:
    https://www.aicpa.org/becomeacpa/cpaexam/forcandidates/tutorialandsampletest/pages/exam_tutorial_parallel.aspx

takes about 30 mins after a brief setup

    FAR 7/25/15 76!
    AUD 10/30/15 93
    BEC 2/27/16 82
    REG 5/23/16 88!
Ninja Book and MCQ and the forum - all the way!!!
and a little thing i like to call, time and effort!

i just did the bec practice exam and the calculator is like the windows calculator but it provides a sidebar with a tape function that can be turned on or off. also, there has been a lot of chatter about it not having a square root function (for EOQ, etc) but it does. it also has a 1/x function which is nice. i remember using it for far and it uses the number keys on the keyboard so it is functional. it does not have y^x function so any compounding will have to be done with multiplication.
take the practice test and see how it works for you.

I don't know about other states, but I test in IL and my testing center actually offered me a real calculator for my BEC test I took yesterday. I declined as I had practiced using the Becker calculator which is exactly like the CPA one. It might be worth asking your center though if you prefer a real one. However, if that is not an option for you at your test center then everyone's comments are spot on. The AICPA does a good job of giving you the tools you need to practice ahead of time.

    AUD - 69, 77
    REG - 74, 81
    FAR - 75!
    BEC - 71, 82

    IL candidate!

    Finally done (5/24/16)!! Yahooooooo!

I've heard that at some prometric centers, only if you ask for a real calculator, then they can provide you with one. I have not tested this out myself yet, being that I didnt know this and didnt bother asking for one for audit cause I didnt need it. But on Facebook theres CPA exam review groups, and people posted that they were allowed to use a regular 4-function calculator provided by prometric.

    AUD: 98
    REG: 91
    BEC: 86
    FAR: 83

DONE DONE DONE and DONE all on the first try! It IS possible, just keep on studying!

    Dear all,

I actually saw a student borrowed a calculator for a different test, so I asked to for 1 during my FAR, and they did provided a basic 10 key calculator which I preferred over desktop calculator. Just ask, and the center should provide 1.
