I’m from NY and have my FAR exam scheduled for 3/10 in Jersey. There is a “weather warning” of approximately 3-5 inches (although some sites say 1-3) from today 10pm till the afternoon of my exam.

Are prometric centers really sensitive to the weather?
I know Jersey schools close at even the slightest sight of snow…so I’m hoping this doesn’t affect my prometric center..also it’s the last day of the window!!! I’ve been studying for months, I intended on taking this format..does anyone know what happens in situations like this? Worst case scenario, will the testing window be extended due to any snow closures???

Around here (Boston area) prometric is open unless it's a big storm over 8″ even if the schools are closed. You should be able to Google prometric closings and see the last time your center closed if that helps. Otherwise I doubt they'd extend an already extended window but stranger things have happened.

I would call your specific Prometric and ask on what they will base their decision to close and when they will make that decision. Hopefully they will be able to give you an answer and ease your mind.

I was in a similar situation in January. Once Prometric told me they would be open no matter what, it was easier to focus on studying during those last few hours.

Just spoke to NASBA, they said if centers were to close due to snow, a window extension would be granted. As much as this is a relief to know, I would love to just take the exam and get it over with already!!!! Hoping for the best.

Good luck to everyone and let's hope that this “snow” doesn't get in our way!

I am in the same exact boat as you. I am taking FAR tomorrow and my appointment is at 1:30.
so you said you spoke to NASBA and they said the window would be extended if prometric were to close. Did they say what we need to do to make that happen?

@728daniel – yes thats what the representative said. She said once it's confirmed that a center is closed to call NASBA and then they will advise further. I've been calling my prometric center all day, and based on my recent call (20 minutes ago) my center should be open and they said they would've known by now if they were to close tomorrow…so hopefully nothing goes downhill from this point on.

Also it was like summer out today here in NY and now its snowing tomorrow…??!?! But that's the least of my concerns, I just need to take this exam already

I was just on the phone with prometric cpa scheduling people and tell them about our concern.
the representative said if the center were to close, normal procedure is to extend the testing days for ~3days even tho supposedly tomorrow is the last day of the window. They said to call them to schedule it since we won't be able to schedule it ourselves on the website (it will be grey'd out)

so I guess with your phone call with NASBA and mine with prometric, we are almost certain we WILL test it this window.

but yeah..I wanna take it tomorrowww lol..never in my life had i been more eager to take an exam jesus…

    @728daniel

I know exactly what you mean..I couldn't sleep all night because the thought of my exam being moved made me almost cry

Yes I'm using Becker. Took a practice test this morning and got a 72. I have been studying nonstop for the past week (overall 1.5 months) and feel like I know nothing at this point. I am in NFP audit so I thought that section would be easy…lol i was so wrong. Now I'm reviewing all the material and my mind is just going blank I think until tomorrow I am going to reread Gov/NFP till nausea and review Bonds, Cash Flows and Equity..those were other sections that I dreaded. Sorry for the rant, FAR makes me miserable.

How are you feeling about the material?

I am scheduled to test tomorrow at 1:30pm EST. To me, it would be a blessing in disguise if the Prometric Center would be closed due to inclement weather tomorrow:)

I honestly dont know about FAR lol. there is just TOO much material to know. Score wise i think i am in a decent spot. practice exam #1 first try was 74%, then worked 2 weeks straight with no studying done. re-tried practice exam#1, 84%.

practice exam #2 was 79%. progress tests have been around 75 to 90% with 50 or 100 questions each set.

to recall stuff on top of my head i feel like i know nothing. but when i see a question..stuff just come right back..
    idk lol..
