Sorry – but this is stupid and many people will have expired credits as a result of it.

Suppose you took the exam on the very first day of Q2 (April 1st) – you won’t get your CPA exam score back until August 14th! There won’t be enough time to re-take it in Q3 if needed. So many people will have expired credits due to this. They’ll also forget what they learned 4 months ago.

Many of you are saying that this will only be the case for exams taken in Q2. While you guys are correct, I think the unfair part, as Nessie stated, is that some people are getting screwed by this.

Thebigguy1992: I'm not sure what state you are in but I'm sure every state differs. I'm in California and I know that there is no way I'll be able to test in Q3 (if I'm not done before then). The couple of times I have applied, it's taken anywhere between 3-5 weeks to be approved to sit for the exam and an extra couple of days to receive a NTS. You also have to keep in mind that a lot more people will be trying to sit for the exam around the same time. This is because everyone who fails in Q2 will get their grades at the same time.

Honestly, this sounds reasonable to me. This will be the first window, for the new exam changes. As much as you want things to be perfect when rolling out drastic changes, this is unlikely. The time to release will reduce and eventually get to the expected rolling 20 days. I don’t think this is something for candidates to concern themselves with, especially since it’s out of our control. Plan accordingly.

This just means candidates need to take advantage of the time they have to take the current version of the CPA. I always thought 18 months was really generous, anyway.
