    Hey Ninjas!

I’m gearing up for a power weekend of studying. Who’s with me? I’ve got to stay motivated, especially tomorrow (Saturday). I have a re-take of BEC on the 25th of this month. I wish it would rain all day tomorrow so that I could feel guilt-free about staying inside. Forecast says sunshine. 🙁

    AUD - 77
    FAR - 78
    BEC - 68; Retake 4/25/16

@Claudia408 – I have been using CPAexcel and then supplemented that with Ninja MCQs. I went through the CPAexcel MCQ test bank and my average was only about 65% (about 1500 questions, no repeats), and I've done about 700 Ninja MCQs so far and my average is 72%. I started studying about six weeks ago. I'm really struggling with FAR too. It's so hard to retain all of the material. As difficult as the other sections were, I definitely didn't struggle with them nearly as much as this. It's pretty discouraging. I'm really hoping things come together in the next two weeks.

I needed this post! Its a beautiful weekend in central MN this year. It is in the mid 70s, I don't think we have had that since last October. My husband took the dogs out so I could study, but I found myself searching the web and on fb. I need motivation!

My goal for REG is 800 Ninja MCQs – mostly Business Law and Professional Responsibilities. So they should go by quick.

Oh yeah, and finish my taxes. I started inputting in turbo tax last weekend, then the guilt of becoming a CPA and studying REG got to me….and I don't want to pay to file.

    Hi Claudia,

I believe my personal issue with FAR has been trying to shortcut it and memorize by sheer force of will. FAIL x7!
This time, I am using a different review course (sorry Jeff) that is giving me more detail and a deeper understanding of the issues and the codification. Intermediate Accounting was a looooooong time ago. I realize that age has made me more patient, more of a visual learner, but less of a rote memorizer.

I found during the test that I could remember a problem one way, but did not have the understanding to answer it if it was presented somewhat differently than I had memorized.

I have also now completely conquered my fear of journal entries. I am not bitter about this process, since I truly think I am a better accountant now. The gaps in my understanding are closing, like chinks in my armor, and I am stronger for it!

    YAY! Onward and upward!

    Good luck with your studies!

CPA50 – I am the same way, problems presented in different formats I get stuck on and think through the problem. Trying to really avoid that with FAR. Did you use Ninja for all your previous attempts? You will get it this time!!

And yea it's very nice and sunny here in the SF bay area. I need this over and done with, been at this for over a year!!

Do MCQ's is great, but I find it can be a crutch to not actually learning the material. Like I should be sitting at a table where I could actually calculate and write down stuff, but I've been hanging out on the couch all day going through MCQ's and watching lecture videos. I sorta, kinda type notes into brainscape, but wonder if I'm spending too much time doing that.

NO doubt about it, finding the most efficient strategy is a lot harder than I thought it would be.
