I’m just curious since because in the past with 3 MCQ testlets you could get a medium hard medium progression to “make up” for the hard testlet. I was wondering if anyone felt like they didn’t do that well on the second MCQ testlet under the new format and still did fine? There’s less MCQ questions but does that means each one is weighted more?

For my BEC exam my first testlet went really well and then the second one had some really strange questions not covered in my materials and quite a few I was unsure about. Sims and WC I think I should’ve done alright on.

Still anxiously waiting on CA and doubting myself more..

I would say yes, you can pass and not do well on the MCQs because that's what happened with me. I did awful on both MCQ testlets. However, I think I did really well on the Sims and therefore balanced one another out. I barely squeaked by, but hey – a pass is a pass!

Before the changes, AICPA said yes assuming you did good enough on sims.

People are forgetting that sims are worth half our grade now. That itself is something you need to keep in mind. I personally wouldn't worry whether a testlet was hard or medium because other than the AICPA, nobody know. So stop pulling your hair over it.

Yeah I know sims are worth more now. Especially on an exam like BEC which didn't have sims before. I just felt very good about the first testlet and then it's possible that I got a lot wrong on the second one. Just felt better before when you had three testlets to sort of make up points on the third testlet even though the MCQ was worth more before. Guess I will just wait and see. I think I did pretty well on the sims/WC.
