Please clarify re-taking a section in same NTS

Just ahead of time I’m crystal clear with not being able to take a section twice in a single testing window. Makes sense, if you think about it.

What I’m not sure about, though, is taking a section in Q1, and then again in Q2 during a single NTS.

I signed up for all four exams and I have enough time to study. But I found out I couldn’t register for REG past March 9th, so I picked that even though I knew I wouldn’t have enough time to study after BEC on February 17th. If (when, really) I don’t pass it this time, could I register to take it in July while this NTS is still active? I’ve seen conflicting information about it- that its basically a one use thing per NTS. Other places say you can just take it in the next window before your NTS expires.

I suppose another option is to cancel this appointment for $99 and reschedule it for July once scheduling resumes in mid-March.

What’s the best way to go?

Once you take an exam, you have to apply for a new NTS to retake it. So if you take REG in March and fail, you can retake it again beginning April, but you'll have to apply for a new NTS for REG (your other sections you haven't taken yet will still be good on the original NTS).

    Thanks for the response!

I took another look at it and think I will pay to cancel (only $35, not $99!) and reschedule when it opens up again later this month. I think that probably doesn't “use up” my one shot for this NTS.

Your nts will still be good if you cancel.

It is only used up when you either take the exam, or after the time is up (usually 6 months from when you get it)
