Just lost REG after two 70s on BEC and AUD. If I would have passed both I would be a CPA right now. I’ve been at this for two years and I’m totally burned out. My plan is to take the rest of busy season off from studying, reevaluate, and then hit the study material again in May.

My fear is that I will be so unmotivated and struck with fear of failure that I just won’t do it. I’ve used Ninja so many times and while it has helped me comprehend subjects better, I’m still sitting here empty handed. Becker is a waste of time for me as well for I’ve been through that gauntlet of boredom.

Does anyone have some advice (doesn’t have to be motivational or uplifting) or ideas on what I should do? I put in the time and when I see most people say they put in the time, they pass. Not sure how to go about studying anymore. I’ve done so man MCQ that it’s to the point that they’re counterproductive. Not exactly sure how some of you do 200 MCQ in a day while working full-time.

I apologize for the rant. Thank you.

    REG - 79
    FAR - ?
    AUD - ?
    BEC - ?

Broag, I understand the pain man! I have not lose any section yet but super close depending how FAR is going and most likely will happen. I wholeheartedly believe if someone is capable of passing the monster FAR they can pass any section. When you did Ninja did you know which area you struggled with the most?

For instance, I knew Book to Tax and calculating the NI etc was an issue on my first round with REG I hit that area hard the 2nd time and I think I mastered that topic.. though I only got few questions on it. Maybe get a study partner, someone you are close with and will tell you anything you need to hear to put you on track and not what you want. Having the support is important!

personally, none of my family are supportive but I have friends who have passed (and I started before them) and those that are still studying, have helped me a ton! If you need any motivation I highly suggest checking out Les Brown videos on youtube, especially the one in Georgia Dome. I watched that once a day for 2 weeks straight and it helped me pass AUD! it gave me the motivation. But now Im just feeling lazy for FAR! Best of luck my friend!

What helped me for my AUD retake is going back and drilling down into my weak areas and focusing on them until I really understood them. That meant reading the text, taking new notes, doing MCQs, making notes of my missed questions, listening to the audio, etc. Sometimes if I still needed to understand something, I'd search the topic here to see if one of the Ninja's has broken it down enough for me to understand. Once I understood, I moved on to the next area, rinse, and repeat.

First off, let me just say, I've never lost a section but I do know how it feels to fail after giving your all to the process–I failed my first attempt at BEC. It literally took me almost 6 months to try again. I would go back to my studies, but there was no focus because I couldn't understand why I got the 73 in the first place. People tried to tell me about the importance of getting back to it, but my mind nor my body was ready. It wasn't until I had a true heart to heart with myself. I asked myself if I were willing to go the distance with this exam regardless of pass or fail. For a person, who typically passes everything that fail was a world crusher. So, after my heart to heart and my husband further cementing the fact that people who really want something out of life are tenacious, ferocious even. They are willing to “fail” for the sake of winning/passing. This is only a stepping stone and in order to really get to the other side, I need to take this as a learning tool (because there's always something to learn) and go for it foreal. I said all of that to say, you have it in you. You have everything that you need to pass this exam inside of you! You can do it! I had to stop surface studying. I learned that I'm not an auditory learner, but hearing the same thing over and over again AFTER I understand the concepts works. I learned that studying first thing in the morning before my brain had been overworked by the work day was a great idea. Also, I had to really get in the book. I supplemented with Ninja MCQ, Youtube, and explanations from people on this site. Did I mention I needed to win–I wanted to put it all on the table during my next run in with BEC. Admittedly, I could've scored better on it, but I made a huge mistake by studying all the way up until I tested. By the time I was testing my brain was so tired and the written communications were jibberish.

You said Becker has bored you to death. Do you think it's the best for your learning style? I know Becker is really good because people have passed with them. Though, they would never be my course of choice because I do not learn by memorization or note pointing–no hits against them, but that's not my style. I use Roger because I need the concepts to be broken down in a way that makes sense to me. I also need to stay awake LOL.

Take a moment, write out your study plan, and stick to it. When a person wins, they never ask you how many times you've failed because it's not important.

I'm tired of operating in fear and mediocrity. It's time to try. It's time to do. It's time to go.
