This exam is so crazy. I took FAR in December and then again in early January. I scored a 73 the first time and a 71 then second time.

My performance reviews both times had me at comparable for simulations, but weaker at MCQ.

For MCQ’s, the first time at 73 I had NFP as stronger, 2 other sections as comparable and then 2 other sections as weaker.

For the January test at 71, I scored all weaker on all MCQ sections.

I have never gotten all weaker on MCQ in the past. I guess I know that my weakness is running MCQs.

Anyone else use those performance reviews to help guide you on retakes?

The score report I got for FAR said not to pay much attention to those because the ones that you might've done Comparable or Stronger on with this most recent test might be those that you do weaker on next time if you don't study that material again. In other words…I think they suggest studying everything again.

Honestly, when I took the exam second time earlier in Jan I felt so much better but the SIMS were way worse! I truly believe theres some luck. Another friend of mine did not study govt/nfp and didnt practice 1 single sims and when we studied together I knew the material better than she did. Somehow she managed to pass.. not trying to be jealous or anything, I am happy she passed but the thing is that individual may have gotten a testlet that is more suitable to their strength.

As far as the report I wouldn't place to much assurance on it. Just redo the questions over. I think the SIMS are key to passing FAR.

Agreed. If you knock it out of the park on the SIMs, you'll get a really good score. Half of it is luck – if you take it on one day, you may get a batch of easier questions. If you take it on another day, you may not. I think that's what they want to do though…catch you on a bad day and see how well you can perform. I don't know. I'm just totally speculating.

The SIMs can be on literally any topic and the answers seem to be graded with very little, if any, partial credit. I thought I did pretty well on this last round of FAR SIMs but I got a “Weaker” on my report. The topics of the SIMs were all ones I was comfortable with, strangely enough.
