Maybe they just pull random scores out of a hat. That would explain a lot actually.
I think that a lot of people would agree with that theory. 😀 “Hmm, roll the dice 3 times, add together the numbers, roll it again, multiply by that number, roll again, divide by that number, now add the number of SIMs he got right, and that's the score!”
More seriously, I think everyone's ability to assess how well they did varies. I really really wish they'd give instant scores for whatever portion(s) are computer graded, or if they don't want the grading software to be in the Prometric system (for whatever reason), then have the scores available as soon as Prometric uploads the tests overnight, or something like that. I don't remember if the SIMs are computer graded or not, and I know the WC on BEC are at least partially human-influenced in the grading, but at least give everyone their MCQ score within 24 hours after the exam! I don't believe the conspiracy theories about them releasing scores in waves to make sure only xx percentage of people pass, so I don't think there's any evil reason behind the delayed release. My thought is they don't want to release a score for part of the exam and not the other part, or people will get mad (“I got an 80 on the MCQ, only to find out 3 weeks later I got a 40 on the SIMs so failed overall, it's cruel to give the MCQ score without the full exam score!”) or something like that, but I still wish they'd give me as much as possible as soon as possible. The wait is miserable, and the attempts to guess are impossible to avoid. I'm glad that the people around me weren't too bad at asking “how'd it go” too much. Of course the day I got back from the exam there were a couple questions, but they mostly dropped it till score day, and that helped me try not to think about it too much.
