I just wanted to create this forum to tell everyone that yes it is possible to pass each section in 4 weeks while working full time, all it takes is self discipline. I would work 45-50 hours a week and also workout 5 days a week while studying for each part.

    My study schedule:
    Monday-Friday 7:30pm-10:30pm
Saturday and Sunday: 9am-12am and then 4pm-10pm

Create a study schedule and stick to it. Never give yourself an excuse to skip a day of studying.

Also, I never studied any simulations. Simulations are extremely time consuming and pointless in my opinion. As long as you know the material from the book, you will be fine.

Why do Indians take the American CPA exam when there is the Chartered Accountant thing already in India? You don't see Australians or British people taking the American CPA exam too often.

@AnnuityDue Congrats on banging those out, I attempted three last window and it was an EPIC fail, well BEC and REG was close, but FAR was EPIC. Still going to do it again lol. What materials did you run with?

    AUD - 1st - 60 (12/12), 61 (2/13), 61 (8/13), 78! (11/15)
    REG - 55 (2/16) 69 (5/16) Retake(8/16)
    BEC - 71(5/16) Retake (9/16)
    FAR - (8/16)

Not to create any controversy here, it's the hunger to learn more and adding to that, many of the US multinationals have their accounting functions run out of India, and it makes a lot of sense for whose who are working for these firms to have the US qualification. More than anything you have a lot of respect when you talk to a colleague in the US. Compared to the struggle one go through for the CA exams in India where the results are around 2-5% and take nothing less than three years, US CPA is comparatively easy, and it takes very less time.

@circadianmalfunction there are many American companies in India who like a CA with CPA degrees as they consolidate their FS . Some of the CAs who work in Arab peninsula are preferred by big 4 to have CPA degrees. Just CPA degree will not get you a job in India but may help you along with CA or ICWA degree. It's like CMA degree after CPA in USA.

Congrats. I agree that self discipline is the key for passing this exam. You need to put in those required hours to pass these exams. This is where every candidate is different. Some use 18 months other 4-6 months depending on their background. Which ever plan you choose, make these hours count. Good luck!

I think indian CA is only recognized in India and primarily based on Indian business laws/economy. However CPA is globally recognized and international. There is no comparison of the two. CPA is definitely the most sought after qualification.

    BEC 78

Are you saying you passed all three exams in 4 weeks? Or did you pass each exam after 4 weeks of studying for each?

I'm not trying to sound bitter, but if it's the first option then I don't believe you. Also, were these your first attempts? If they were re-takes then that would've definitely worked to your benefit.

    Either way, congratulations on passing.

Thank you for sharing AnnuityDue. Would you please share what your study sessions are typically like? I have Becker, Ninja Notes and Ninja Audio. I have taken both BEC and REG but failed both by 5-10 points each. I would appreciate the advice!

    REG-August 2016
    FAR-October 2016

Vellatha no offense, but you and your colleague seem to be exceptional. Congrats!! I know my co-workers that have CA and are taking the EA exam since they couldn't do well on the CPA exams. So it's case by case basis and cannot be categorized based on passing rates in your country (maybe only 2% are dedicated). Also, CPA is taken by candidates around the world who really want to make something out of their lives. Again, I am not here to make light of any licensure or be boastful, just my two cents.

Hi Ariah, I completely agree with you and no offence to anybody. My intention is to just provide some motivation to the candidates and tips to shorten the study time.

Hi @AnnuityDue, for your Saturday and Sunday hours of study, did you mean 9am-12pm for just Saturday and then 6 hours on Sunday? I was just looking for some clarification in how many total hours per week you studied. Seems like M-F you put in 3 hours daily or 15 hours then on the weekends you did 9 hours on Saturday and 9 hours on Sunday? Total of 33 hours per week or 132 hours total?
    Thanks!
