I graduated in August with my MAcc degree with a concentration in tax and I’m working in Big 4 tax. I took about 6 tax classes for my program and I have 3 business law classes under my belt. I’m currently using Becker to study for REG and found that the videos are a complete waste of my time so I’ve just been doing MCQ. I’m on R5 right now and haven’t received below a 70% on any of the homework without watching the videos.

I originally scheduled REG for 10/29 but am now realizing that is way too much study time for me. My job starts the second week of October so I was thinking about moving my exam to 10/5 so that I could get it over with before work. Is it possible for me to study enough to pass REG by 10/5?

I planned on getting all of the homework completed by 9/21 so that I had 2 weeks to review. I also have NINJA Notes.Thoughts? P.S. I have already passed FAR and AUD so I just have to pass REG and BEC(74-retake).

@kcoops44 if you're studying all day for the next couple of weeks you've got a good shot, but I would strongly recommend reading the book at least if you haven't been already. You may know all of the major topics pretty well, but it's the small details that make or break you IMO.

    BEC:69,79 PASS
    FAR:77 PASS
    REG: 7/30
    AUD:68,64

It's doable. Honestly, if someone told me I had two weeks to study REG, I would focus 85% on tax and 15% on ethics and not even touch business law. The questions aren't very objective and I felt even when I took REG, on the few questions I did see, I was still guessing as they were pretty confusing. I passed too without touching business law but I also have a MAcc degree and have taken multiple business law so I was comfortable taking the chance. I don't advice that strategy to many, but since you're on a time crunch it might be worth it. Especially since you just finished grad school.

Also, agree on lectures. It's basically just an instructor reiterating their own notes. My suggestion- make your own notes that will make sense to you. Keep them short and review everyday, so by the day of the exam, you'll have those “exceptions” and “limitations” and special rules stuck in your head.

The videos are almost entirely telling you what to highlight in the book. The ebook in the Becker program has all the same highlights already made. The only reason I watched is that it was the only way I could get myself through the book.

Good luck with the crunch, it's possible.

    FAR - Pass
    AUD - Pass
    REG - Awaiting score
    BEC - Scheduled

REG was the second hardest for me, took it three time got a 71, 74 and then finally a 84. the only issue i had was with business law, which i stopped being lazy with and hammer out and passed. But i dont think 2 weeks is enough due to the amount of info that you will need to review, plus its taxes which is dry to begin with.

I'm finishing up the homework today and taking a Becker practice exam tomorrow to see where I stand. I guess if I completely bomb it I might not move the exam up to 10/5 and try to find an alternate date but I would really like to have it done by then.
