I know I’m not getting anywhere near the recommended 7-8 hours. I start work early in the morning and am usually studying until around 11 at night and won’t fall asleep until around 11:30-12. I’m sure I’m not the only one here who’s sleep deprived thanks to the AICPA.

I've been sleeping between 6.5- 7 hours, but I think it's catching up with me because this week I haven't been able to wake up to study.

I used to sleep at least 8 before I started studying for REG.

@jm962011 I appreciate the concern. πŸ™‚ I went to the doctor last fall to discuss this and a couple other concerns. My mom and my sister have had adrenal fatigue issues (which not all doctors consider “real” issues, but they go to more naturopathic type doctors), and I was having a lot of similar symptoms – one of the many symptoms being requiring extended sleep. The doctor found some other issues which don't officially relate to sleep issues, but as we've worked on clearing up the other issues, I am doing a lot better than I was. For awhile, I was to the point of sleeping 10+ hours every night and still feeling exhausted. Now that I'm back down to being able to do 8 hours and be OK, I feel like a new person haha. Like I said, sleep issues aren't officially a symptom of the other issues, but if the sleep has improved along with the other issues improving, and there's still a long way to go with the other issues, then maybe the sleep will continue to improve too? Initially the doctor wasn't too concerned about the sleep, but that may be because the other issues were more pressing. 😐 (Stuff that if promptly handled, I'd be fine, but if not handled, it could seriously kill me. So…I guess getting to wake up at all was more important than getting to wake up rested. πŸ˜› ) Anyway, even though I'm one that's usually hard to get to go to the doctor, I am seeing the doctor now, and going back for appointments every 3 months – just had bloodwork done yesterday and an appointment next week to review it. (grumble grumble grumble, don't have time for this with fiscal year end 6 weeks out! grumble grumble grumble, but I'm going anyway…) I do appreciate the concern, though – it means a lot. πŸ™‚

I don't know how you guys do it. I can't sleep for 7 hours and be productive. At less than 7 hours, I'm part of the living dead. If I have an average IQ, I know it drops significantly when I sleep less than 8 hours. I wish I could just sleep less than 8 hours and function like a normal human. I have tried many times to sleep less but it is always counterproductive. I slept 7 hrs last night cause I'm nervous because of reg, and I just feel retarded. I tried coffee, redbull and even modafinil, but nothing works. I just have to get my 8 hrs of sleep.

I get around 5-6 hours of sleep each night.

I usually sleep around 1:00 am – 2:00 am, and then wake up at 7:00 am for work.

But before studying for the CPA exam, I usually go to sleep around 12:00 am – 1:00 am.
So I wasn't getting enough sleep before also.
