RE2PECTParticipantI know I’m not getting anywhere near the recommended 7-8 hours. I start work early in the morning and am usually studying until around 11 at night and won’t fall asleep until around 11:30-12. I’m sure I’m not the only one here who’s sleep deprived thanks to the AICPA.

AnonymousInactiveEver since my freshman year of college when I burned the candle way too long on both ends, I have been unable to operate on limited sleep. In a pinch, I can do 8 hours for an ongoing period of time, but anything less than that and I might as well be asleep cause I'd get as much done – maybe more actually. 😐 Most days I sleep around 9 hours (head to bed around 9; get up around 6), but when it's a particularly stressful period of time or if I'm under the weather, I'll sleep more. If I've got a lot going on but it's not super-stressful, I can do 8 hours a night for a couple weeks, but after a couple weeks of 8 hours nights, I have to get a good long night (12+ hours) to make up for it. I have been known to go to sleep at 6 pm on a Friday night and sleep till 8 or 10 the following morning. 😐
I'm just glad I'm not having to study anymore – having to study and sleep a lot and work too makes it hard to balance them all!

VanessachyParticipantI have about 6-7 hours of sleep as well. Weekend I can sleep more, but I normally wake up early to study (my mind won't let me rest).

perezc3910ParticipantLately, I have been getting 6 hours tops. I have been waking up at 4:30am so that I can study before work because by the time I get home from work, I just can't concentrate. BEC is too much information and formulas. The first three chapters are killing me. I want to make sure that I understand them before moving on. I have been doing awful on the homework. It's very frustrating.

VanessachyParticipant@perezc3910, I skipped 3, so I can finish 4, 5, 6 this week. During the week, I cannot concentrate on calculation, I plan on study 3 during the weekend. A lot of people said BEC is the easiest, so I underestimated it, so far, it is as frustrated as others. None of them are easy.

ChrisParticipantArnold Schwarzenegger would say “sleep faster!”
“I always figured there are 24 hours in a day. You sleep six hours and have 18 hours left. Now I know there are some of you out there that say ‘wait a minute, I sleep 8 or 9 hours.' Well just sleep faster, I would recommend.”

YolongeParticipantI also get around 6 hours.. which is not good at all. I would like to bring it up to 8 once testing is over. Weekends I pretty much sleep in… does not do anything good on Monday morning.

perezc3910Participant@Vanessachy you rescheduled your test? How are you doing with the homework? I have read on some threads that a lot of people skip it and just do MCQ at the end. I might take their advice because getting 50 or 60% all of the time is stressing me out.

LarryParticipantI always get 7-8 hours of sleep because I have to be up at 5:15 to get to work by 6:30. I start studying right after work in my office from 5-8:30. Get home around 9 to a home cooked meal by my wife and be in bed by 10-10:30. We talk in bed before I dose off to sleep. Weekends, I sleep in until 9 am.

RE2PECTParticipantI'm at about 6 hours too, but sometimes I get only 5, like last night. That one hour makes a big difference. I wish I could study in the morning, but I'm already up really early as it is.
@perezc3910- I feel your pain. I'm taking BEC on 6/7 and the cost accounting and financial management chapters killed me! There's just way too many formulas to try and remember. The only good thing is that after just taking AUD, I feel comfortable with Governance and IT. I just finished reading the book and watching the lectures so I have just under 3 weeks to pound out as many mcq as possible.

Andyred04Participant6.5 – 7 hrs a night. Usually up at 6:30 on weekdays, 7:45 or 8 on the weekends. Usually get around an hour of studying in before work/during my lunch break then will study an additional 2-3 hours after work.

perezc3910Participant@Papogator, how long did it take you to prepare for your BEC exam? I think that maybe giving myself two whole months was a big mistake because now I'll have to keep going back to make sure that I remember the beginning chapters. I was also too scared to schedule it for June just in case if it wasn't enough time.

VanessachyParticipant@perezc3910, no I didn't reschedule it, I am still going to take on 6/10. I have one month for it, so it is kind of tight. I don't skip reading calculation part, but I use my own way to calculate, the becker book explanation is too confusing and the calculation is too long. I mesmerize the formula and work through the questions by myself. I view them as math word questions, sometimes I use T accounts to find get the answer. BTW, don't get stressed about not getting a good score when you practice it, as long as you get it, you can do well on the exam.

perezc3910Participant@RE2PECT. you finished all six chapters?? Wow. I have barely finished Chapter 3 and I started to study a whole week before you. Have you been doing the homework in between the chapters? I think I might just leave all MCQ until after I am done reading and watching all lectures. I have been doing horrible on the homework and it's really overwhelming me.

perezc3910Participant@Vanessachy, Oh I didn't realize that you are studying for AUD. I might leave that one for last. It will probably the hardest for me. BEC is killer. How do you think that you did on your BEC exam? If I want to be done by November, I will only have one month to study for AUD like you. I really hope that I don't have to retake any.
