Hey everyone,
I’m in a weird situation when it comes to the experience requirement for NY. I have 2 years of full time experience in accounting from a large multinational corporation headquartered in NYC. However, the accounting department is located in NJ and that’s where I actually worked. The catch is that my supervisor at the NJ office is a NY CPA.
I know that NY requires experience to be under a CPA licensed in the state where the experience is claimed. However, given that my boss is a NY CPA and the company is technically from NY, would my experience be acceptable? I checked my offer letter and it does have the NYC address and I officially became an employee of the company at the NYC office where I signed the offer. Or are there reciprocity rules between the states that could work to my advantage? Thank you!
