So i thought the hardest part was taking the exam, but apparently actually applying for the license is. Having trouble finding a concrete list of instructions and i want to make sure i do everything correct so that my license is processed as fast as possible without any extra delays because of mishaps on my behalf. If any of you can answer the following questions, it would be greatly appreciated!

    1) Is the ethics exam required for NY applicants? IF so, how do i register and take this exam?

    2) Do you have to wait for the congratulatory letter? I saw another thread where someone said they sent their state board their final score and they got the congratulatory letter within a few hours.

Not an expert, but I don't think NYS requires the Ethics exam at this time.
I would send in your application as soon as possible. I think NASBA sends the scores to NYS on your behalf. NYS will have to confirm your scores regardless.
NYS Processing time is currently in excess of 16 weeks, so get that Form 1 is yesterday.
There is a NYS Time to Process thread on here maybe page 2 or 3 now.

Ethics is not required for NYS license application. I'm still waiting for congratulatory letter. I mailed in my application and fee on Monday. My supervisor mailed in the Form 4 on Monday as well.

Here's the link for initial license:

Ethics course is not required. Email NASBA( CPAES-ny@nasba.org) to make sure they sent over your transcripts. I sent in my application 5/1/2017 and wasn't notified (until I emailed the Office of Professions) until 7/11/2017 that NASBA didn't send over the information. I'm now just starting my wait time for my application (the Board received my application on 8/14/2017).

    Good luck!

@jess050190 That is a real bummer! I just sent my second email to NASBA to confirm on the transcript.
